Facebook/Australia Remember When

Who remembers this iconic biscuit? Its sweet, fruity goodness made snack time feel like a mini celebration. It was produced by the Swallow & Ariell biscuit company, founded by Thomas Swallow in 1854. Their legacy includes classics like Uneeda, Teddy Bear, Marie Biscuits, and Melba Wafers. Did anyone else grow up nibbling on these bikkies? Share your memories here.

My parents had a mixed business in country Victoria in the 1950's. The Swallows biscuit truck delivered biscuits in metal tins. These were later returned to the factory to be refilled. Broken biscuits were a penny a bag, and what a treat that was!

Back in my day, we had a little grocer store amongst our shops, and on the top shelf of his shop were all of these large square metal biscuit tins, once a week after state school I would visit him and get a bag of mixed broken biscuits for threepence a bag. That was my special treat for the week. Oh they were great times.
