Sunrise reporter gets absolutely drenched live on-air!

A typical day on live television isn't always as glamorous as it looks.

There are plenty of perks that come with the job, of course —- like being able to travel to amazing locations and meet new, interesting people.

But there have to be some pretty big downsides, like having to get up extremely early in the morning, the occasional day-long coverages, and dealing with bad weather conditions.

The latter was certainly the case for poor Nathan Currie, a reporter for Sunrise who got absolutely drenched while reporting on wet weather.

A clip was then shared by The Morning Show hosts, Kylie Gilles and Matt Doran, showing Nathan standing by the side of the road recording a segment for a report.

Behind him, a large puddle could be seen just beside the asphalt.

As he was speaking to the camera, a large truck drove by and sprayed him with water from its tires, completely soaking him – and his microphone!

He can be heard having difficulty suppressing a chuckle at the drenching. The clip cuts next to a laughing Nathan doubled over in amusement (or disbelief) at what happened to him!

‘We did hope to return to Nathan Currie, didn't we Kyles, for a chat but (Nathan) said no, he's thrown in the towel,’ Matt shared in jest.

‘He's going to have a soy latte and a warm shower, and is no longer available for the duration of the show.’

We understand, Nathan! Rain and wet weather is something most of us have had enough of anyway…

The incident also unfortunately damaged Nathan’s microphone, according to Kylie.

Unable to resist throwing a cheeky swipe in, she also said: ‘You watch, he’ll hit us up for the dry cleaning bill.’

Maybe throw a one-day leave there while you’re at it so you could hunt down the truck driver, Nathan. Kidding!

Nathan took his chance to get back at the hosts through his Instagram account, where he also shared the clip of the incident.

‘Nah that’s cool… I didn’t want sympathy anyway,’ he jokingly told the hosts.

It seems he and his cameraman weren’t counting on the spray of vehicles to reach them at the roadside.

Nathan said it felt like a wave had hit him.

‘I was trying to keep a straight face but that was hard to do because our cameraman had completely lost it.’ he explained.

Viewers also found the whole thing hilarious, praising how Nathan handled the situation.

Reporters are suppose to be smart. Yet they put themselves in dangerous/silly spots, just to get the shots. How many times, are they in flood waters without life jackets, yet reporting, "officials have directed people to stay out of flood water". Or standing with their back to traffic, whilst reporting, allegedly dangerous roads. Darwinism? Their employees are definitely not managing safety or complying with with OHS.

Journalist reporters are often in risky jobs - depending of where they report.
Our Best man at our wedding was one of them.
He worked in Australia and worldwide with lots of close encounters.
What comes to mind is the Bosnia war 30 years ago, the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests & getting punched in his face at the funeral for mafia crime boss Robert Trimbole ... to name a few.
