Sunrise hosts Rebecca and Kochie concerned that their off-air banter is at risk of being leaked

After unauthorised footage of 7News anchors Rebecca Maddern and Mike Amor calling Novak Djokovic an “a***hole” surfaced online, Sunrise hosts Natalie Barr and David ‘Kochie’ Koch are said to be worried that a ‘rat’ may also leak their off-air conversations, according to a source.

“Nat and Kochie would be wondering how many times they've had a private chat about something or someone, and will now be forced to watch every single word they say from here on in,” the source said.

“Everyone on TV knows there's banter off-air, and when the cameras are on it's a whole other picture.”

“There’s a lot of backstabbing in TV.”

Last week, Channel Seven’s Rebecca Maddern and Mike Amor have been the talk everywhere on social media, thanks to a viral footage showing the two blasting Novak Djokovic in an off-air studio exchange.

Rebecca started the spicy conversation with her co-host, saying: “Whatever way you look at it, Novak Djokovic is a lying, sneaky, a***hole,” referring to his ‘lies’ about the athlete’s COVID-19 situation.

“It’s unfortunate that everybody else stuffed up around him. To go out when you know you’re COVID-positive – well, I don’t think he was even COVID-positive…” she continued.

Mike responded by agreeing with her: “He’s an a***hole. You’ve got a bulls**t f***ing excuse and then he fell over his own f***ing lies, which is what happens right?”

After three days of investigation, the source of the leak was traced back to an employee at the closed-captions company Ai-Media Technologies Limited.

In response, Ai-Media CEO Tony Abrahams said: “We are Australia’s leading provider of captioning services and we understand the importance of our work in making media accessible and inclusive to a wider audience, while safeguarding the confidential information of our customers.”

“We have longstanding and strong relationships within the media industry in Australia, and value our relationship with the Seven Network with whom we have been working with for over five years. This is the first such incident in Ai-Media’s 19-year history, and enhanced controls have since been implemented to ensure it cannot be repeated.”

Reports said that appropriate action has been taken with regard to the employee responsible.
