Sunday Classics 20.04.2025
Hey members!
It’s time for another Sunday Classic, and this one’s sure to hit you right in the feels.
This week, we're getting lost in the magic of ‘Blue Bayou’ by Linda Ronstadt, requested by member @R2Want2. Released in 1977, this sombre ballad has become one of Ronstadt’s signature hits, with her rich soprano transforming the song into something uniquely hers.
But did you know Blue Bayou wasn’t originally Ronstadt’s—she made it her own after hearing it from longtime collaborator J.D. Souther. The song was first written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson during a road trip in the early ‘60s, and Orbison released his version in 1963. While Orbison’s version is a pop classic, Ronstadt’s rendition became a chart-topping hit with its emotional depth and heartfelt delivery.
Got a song in mind that could top this classic? Drop it below, and we just might feature it next Sunday!
