Succulent Salisbury steak

Members, you might not have heard of this recipe before. We think they're a little like rissoles, but with an American twist, so if you're feeling adventurous, why not give this a go?
Ingredients:
500 grams of mince beef
1 onion, diced
1 egg
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup beef stock
1/4 cup red wine
1 tablespoon cornflour
1/4 cup water
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
2. In a bowl, mix together mince beef, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and black pepper.
3. Shape mixture into 4 patties.
4. In a frying pan over medium heat, heat olive oil.
5. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes each side, or until browned.
6. In a baking dish, place patties and pour over beef stock and red wine.
7. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
8. In a small bowl, mix together cornflour and water.
9. Remove foil from baking dish and pour over cornflour mixture.
10. Bake for a further 5 minutes, or until sauce has thickened.
11. Serve with rice or mashed potato with some boiled broccoli and enjoy.
It's a little more involved than typical rissoles, but these succulent Salisbury steaks are definitely worth the effort in our opinion.
As for the history of this dish, Wikipedia has an interesting little fact: "Coming from this history of ground meat dishes is the Salisbury steak. James Salisbury (1823–1905) was an American physician and chemist known for his advocacy of a meat-centered diet to promote health, and the term Salisbury steak for a ground beef patty served as the main course has been used in the United States since 1897."
So there you have it - Doctor's orders to cook this up for dinner (nevermind that the medical advice may be a century and a half out of date)!
