What a tragedy 😢 we were only talking about choking the other night. My daughter was telling us how many people this happens to each year.

We are here for you ❤️
The paramedics were telling me the same thing
One of the disadvantages of being in the country is the time it takes for the ambulance to arrive, although in this case it would have made no difference.

I didn't realise our food can actually go down the wrong way. I thought that was just something my grandmother said.

Then my daughter the nurse explained that, right after swallowing, near the anatomic base of the tongue, is a Y in the road, where our reflexes direct traffic between two “pipes”: the esophagus (or the “right” pipe), for food and liquids, and the trachea (or the “wrong” pipe),
The bigger problem is not when something gets stuck in the esophagus, but when it ends up getting stuck in either the trachea (windpipe) or the passageway between the throat and the trachea called the larynx (voice box). This can lead to choking and even death.

Most of the time it happens when we rush our food, talk while eating or make a sudden movement like laughing.

I can't begin to imagine what you and your daughter has gone through.

I'm glad you are in a small town which I'm sure has alot of caring people 🙏❤️

That is what prompted me to learn the Heimlich Manoeuvre, which is quite a simple one to learn, a couple were glad I did over the years. But that's stories for another time.

Unfortunately even that didn't work on my husband. I had already learnt that also as he had choking attacks a couple of times previously
Even the paramedics used suction, although he had already passed away, and couldn't dislodge it.

We made these paper type blocks when we had a wood fire so economical we probably still have the block frame up the shed it was made of metal
That was the beauty of them , all you needed was waste paper and water used to make them all year round when I wasn't overseas.
I love my wood heater. The heat spreads right through the house.

We managed to pick up a ton of goid wood delivered from Flower Power for $200. Should last us all of winter

The only time I was wood nowadays is T tree or a fruit wood for my smoker?

I'm very sorry to hear that and wish that other than offer condolences I could do more.

That’s a solid approach! I’ve been doing something similar with those cheap, comfy layers. I grabbed some budget-friendly thermal gear from a discount store, and it’s made a huge difference. I also started using draft stoppers on my doors and windows to keep the heat in. It’s amazing how a few small changes can really help with keeping the bills down and staying warm.

I bought a couple of blankets from Kmart forb$10 each. They are magnificent. They do appear to be thin but they really hold the warmth. Love them. 👍
