Spinning Tops​

Who remembers these metal spinning tops?
You would pull up the twisted metal rod at the top and then push down quickly to make the top spin around on the ground or table. I remember having some of different sizes. Lots of fun!

Yep. Most of my toys as a real youngster were battery free. Wind up or lacky band driven etc.

By the time my children had them, the tops also played a tune while spinning.

l remember having a top that had to be whipped also playing hopscotch and playing marbles in the drains.How unhygienic but we survived lol

My Mum recently passed away, aged 90.

While sorting through her house, we found the original spinning top my siblings and 1 enjoyed all those years ago.

It's still fun!
