Shopper warns against potentially 'dangerous' item from Kmart

We're always on the lookout for a bargain, and Kmart is definitely one of our go-to stores when we need to save some cash.
The retailer always seems to have what we're looking for at a fraction of the price, and their quality is usually pretty good (even if some things do break more easily than we would like).
But every so often, shoppers come across items that make them question whether it's actually worth sacrificing quality for the sake of saving a few dollars.
That was certainly the case for one Kmart fan who made an unsettling discovery after purchasing a stainless steel tumbler from her local store recently.
The woman took to a popular Kmart Facebook group recently to share an issue she had discovered with one of her new household items – specifically, a stainless steel tumbler she had purchased.
Soon after receiving her tumbler (which came in pretty blue ombre colour) in the mail, she noticed there were several small metal balls loose inside the straw that came with it, which baffled her completely.
Concerned about what these objects could be and where they might have come from, she took some photos of her discovery and posted them on social media, asking if anyone else who owned one of these tumblers had found anything similar inside their own straws as well... but most people said no.
Many shoppers replied, saying they hadn't seen anything like it before in their own items, but one person did recognise the small metal balls and said they'd had similar problems with their own cup from Kmart.
'I had one of these cups. I had to change the straw because mine had those metal balls in it too,' a fellow shopper recalled.
Another suggested that maybe they were part of the manufacturing process – possibly used to smooth out the inside of drinking straws during production – but most people weren't so sure about that explanation.
Other group members urged the shopper to contact Kmart immediately to report the issue, with one saying it could cause a 'potential disaster' – especially if a child sucked on the straw and accidentally swallowed one of the small metal balls.
The shopper assured group members she had passed her concerns on to Kmart and would let them know the outcome of her investigation.
When a news source reached out to Kmart for comment, a spokesperson said an investigation was now underway. 'At Kmart, we take product safety extremely seriously. Our customer service team have been in touch with the customer to begin an investigation,' said the representative.
So far, there's been no word on whether the metal balls are actually part of the manufacturing process or if this was just another rare incident. But either way, we definitely think it's worth taking a closer look at any Kmart tumblers you might have before using them, just to be on the safe side.
Members, have you ever come across something like this before at Kmart? And aside from their stainless steel tumblers, do you know any recent products that may be 'dangerous' as well? Please share them with us in the comments section; we could all use a heads-up!
