The global entertainment industry is no stranger to astonishing stories of celebrities' antics. One such story revolves around the UK's controversial comedian, Russell Brand, and a shocking interaction with 60 Minutes reporter Liz Hayes, which has come under fresh scrutiny amidst recent allegations against him.

Clips from the interview resurfaced after Brand was accused of sexual, physical and verbal abuse by four different women, one of whom was a minor when the abuse allegedly happened.

Liz Hayes—now 67—reminisced about a bizarre encounter with Brand during an interview in 2012.

Hayes had been assigned to film the comedian for a segment on the show, which took an unexpected turn at the end of the interview.

In a video of the segment, Brand—a former heroin and sex addict—abruptly grabbed Hayes by the face and initiated a non-consensual kiss. In complete disbelief, she could only gasp his name in surprise.

Then the comedian exclaimed, ‘How can I undo your bra? Just like this...' As he put his arm around the reporter’s back, leaving her visibly perplexed.

A pause ensued, followed by him strutting away and shouting back, ‘Liz, I love you!’

Hayes remained professional amidst the awkward encounter, maintaining her composure despite the bizarre events unfolding.

Reflecting on the experience, Hayes conveyed that interviews can take one of any number of directions.

‘When you interview Russell Brand,’ she said in 2021, ‘you don't know who's going to show up.’

Hayes described Brand, saying, ‘The more you say “don’t”, the more he does. That’s Russell.’

'Seasoned as I am as a journalist, I am prepared for all events and all kinds of people. And when Russell Brand decided he would like to kiss me, well, you size up the situation,’ Hayes added. 'You think, "Mmm-hmm. Am I in danger? What could go wrong?"'

Before the interview, Brand warned the TV veteran, ‘I'm a tricky little swine. I'm a trickster. I'm a raven. I'm a playful coyote looking for mischief.’

'The naughty Russell ended the day,' Hayes admitted in her 2021 interview. ‘He puts a lot of energy into shocking people.’

This memory of an odd incident has received renewed attention in light of recent serious allegations against the comedian. The comic is now at the centre of grave accusations regarding rape, sexual assault and abuse.

The allegations against Brand are claimed to have occurred between 2006 and 2013, during his time as a presenter for BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 in the UK before transitioning into Hollywood fame.

The explosive accusations include an incident where a 16-year-old girl alleged that she was neglected, assaulted and emotionally abused by Brand during a controlling relationship that lasted three months.

There were also reports by three other women who alleged Brand of similar sexual, physical and verbal assaults. One woman said that Brand allegedly raped her against the wall in his Los Angeles home, while another claimed that he sexually assaulted her while she worked with him and he threatened her with legal action is she told anyone.

A fourth woman claimed that she was also sexually assaulted by Brand, who was physically and emotionally abusive towards her.

In light of these accusations, Brand has firmly denied all and described them as astonishing. He also insisted that all relationships during his ’time of promiscuity’ were ‘consensual’.

He also uploaded a video to his YouTube channel, describing these allegations as 'a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks, which are untrue'.

'Amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks, often very serious allegations, that I absolutely refute. These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time when I was in the movies,’ Brand stated.

Brand was scheduled to perform at London’s Theatre Royal Windsor venue, which will still go ahead. No cancellations have been announced about his gigs in Plymouth and Wolverhampton.

When a man steps out of line there is nothing like giving him a smack in the mouth or - if he is married - telling the wife! I was forced to "tell the wife" once and believe me it works like nothing else!

Ugh! He’s always come across to me as a predator of sorts and rumours of his sleazy behaviours have circulated for years. I know the ABC cut ties with him after an appearance on a show. His supposed “celebrity” status has protected him to a huge degree,in my opinion. This is a long time coming.

It's becoming more obvious my original thoughts were right he is just another lecherous guy

Okay! Now,I'm going to say a few things here that some of you may agree or disagree with and that's fine,we all have different opinions and I get that. But please if you disagree with anything I say,I welcome your response, but please don't be nasty or unkind. This forum is here for us to all voice our opinions and as I said I respect everyone's right to an opinion whether I agree with it or not. Okay, here we go,now don't get me wrong, I am at no time defending Russell Brand and I have never been interested in his movies, books,tv appearances, his comedy shows etc ,etc and I never will be. I've always found him brash, weird and I've never really taken to him. But,my question is Why now after all this time have these women come forward and not one of them EVER made a complaint to the police.??? Now,I've never been a victim of rape, assault etc etc and I'm very sorry for all the women that have been. But,if that had ever happened to me,what these women are saying happened, then I would have been straight to the police to report it,not wait years and years to do it.🤔 Now,in NO way am I defending this person Russell Brand and if he has done what these women say he has done then he needs to face the full force of the law and be held responsible. He admits that he was full on promiscuous for years, but he is adamant that all his relationships including with the women who are now accusing him of rape, assault(verbal and sexual) were at all times consensual. And with the Liz Hayes interview, did she ever complain about when he grabbed her and kissed her which don't get me wrong wasn't a good move on his behalf BUT, Liz says he warned her before the interview that he is a " swine" a trickster, I'm a tricky little coyote looking for mischief"you never know what your going to get"etc, etc . So, he did warn her that basically he was unpredictable (my words) and you never know whats coming next. Did Liz Hayes ever make a noise or threaten to go to the police with what happened when he kissed her. No,she said she was perplexed but had been warned. So,please don't get me wrong here I am NOT defending this person in any manner or form but what I'm trying to say is. Is this another " trial by media" ????? Isnt the court systems rule "Presumed innocent until proven guilty" Id love to hear other people's opinions on this.🙂

It did appear to me that Liz was flirting with Russell so it's not surprising he wanted to kiss her.

Yes,at times it appeared that way and that's fine. Also, she appeared to really enjoy the time she spent with him,she had a smile on her face the whole time and she said positive things about him ie he appears to be a nice guy,he is a smart man etc. And when he kissed her she did not pull away, and it was a very brief kiss and she did not appear to mind at all. It appeared to be a bit of fun and she at no time during the whole interview including the kiss appeared upset, apprehensive etc, etc. In fact she smiled through the whole interview. And she has never complained or made a complaint about his behaviour. I am not a fan of Russell Brand but one thing thing that did come across in that interview was okay he might be sleazy,he might be a trickster etc etc,but one thing that stood out to me was that he appeared to be an honest person who told it like it is,no pretence about him. I think this is just another media beat up,a trial by media.🤔🙄

I don’t like Russell brand but really wonder as in so many cases in the last few years, why these women are waiting years to file a complaint. How are the police supposed to know what is truth and what is a hazy memory of something that may or may not have occurred. When one claim comes to light are some of these other women jumping on the bandwagon, so to speak. Has society changed so much that we automatically assume someone must be guilty of these atrocious crimes against mostly women, some men as well, even many years after they supposedly happened. I know that no one should have to tolerate any kind of abuse but sometimes it seems like people put themselves in unsafe situations when they really should know better.

It's interesting how these historical "events" surface after a current issue is raised.

Was this reported by Liz Hayes 12 years ago? Probably not.

Now there's the case of the Spanish football boss being called out on his inappropriate kiss on a female player. There was an immediate response and was dealt with swiftly by the governing body.

It seems that people drag such issues out of the closet for purposes other than justice being served.
Yes money :)
