That rent of $835 per week is nothing but Greed for more & more money, from either the Landlord or Agent. It's high time the Government stepped in. Also, stop Immigration for now and focus on Housing/Accommodation for people that are Here Now.

The agent will push for higher rents as they get a % of the rent as commission and the landlord will push the rent up as home mortgages go up.

Yeah, and the people renting the houses are not only ensuring the mortgage is paid, but they are setting themselves up to buy more. Also AirBnB has a hand in raising rent prices.
