Shapes unveils new flavour for mini-bites – is this the new best flavour?

The best Shapes flavour is a topic that has been up for debate for countless years.

In the last year’s poll, Chicken Crimpy was crowned as the ‘best Shapes flavour’ by hundreds of Aussies nationwide. Pizza slid in as a close second, with BBQ earning itself the bronze medal.

Some of the other flavours that competed were Sticky BBQ Wings, Sour Cream and Onion, and Salt & Vinegar, to name a few.

But come 2022, Arrnott’s has announced that a new ‘challenger’ will be joining the wide variety of existing contenders for the ‘best flavour’.

Will the age-old argument be settled once and for all?

Arnott’s have updated their range numerous times over the years, with hit flavours such as Vegemite. However, they plan on changing the game with their latest release: Cheese and Smoky Bacon!

“Cheese and Bacon is a staple of our classic Shapes biscuit range, but this is the first time a fan fave is available in our new crunchy Mini Bites version,” said Alice Johnson, the brand manager for Shapes.

“Plus we’ve added a hint of smokiness for that extra-savoury taste.”

She said the team behind the new flavour worked extra hard by doing lots of sensory testing before the product’s release, and she hopes that Aussies are going to love their new offer.

“The combination of cheese, smoky bacon, and an airy, light crunch are tough to beat when you’re feeling peckish,” said Alice, adding, “Especially when people try an iconic flavour like cheese and bacon in a totally new popped format.”

Now the new ‘popped format’, known as ‘mini-bites’, is something you might have already seen in your local supermarket. If not, don’t be too surprised, they are incredibly new.

Rather than the classic shape and crunch, this new snack offers a lighter texture and added crunch, amongst a range of flavours.

Many Shapes fans were reeling when they heard the news, taking to social media to share their excitement.

“Oh my goodness,” wrote one person on Instagram, with another chiming in, “Looks like it’s a shapes-and-cheese weekend!”

The new Cheese & Smoky Bacon flavour is available for $3.20 and can be found on supermarket shelves nationwide.

Ouch, ouch, ouch.
I'd love to consume these, but I am allergic to onion and garlic.....the allium family of vegetables which also includes shallots, leeks, chives.
Unfortunately, these flavoured biscuits usually include onion powder or garlic powder, as do flavoured potato chips.
I have to be very careful as the quantities are sometimes below the required amount to include in the ingredients in the contents listed.

Not all they're cracked up to be.....was very disappointed in the flavour. I vote for bringing back Nabisco's 'In A Biskit' range specifically Crispy Potato and Crispy Bacon ones, now these actually had flavour you could taste. Yum.
