Sewing Baskets

Ah, good old sewing baskets. They have been a staple in many Aussie homes passed down from generation to generation. Remember opening your sewing basket and being overwhelmed by various colours, textures, threads and tools? From the needle and thread to the buttons and ribbons, the sewing basket was a treasured possession. Do you still have yours, or did you pass it on to the next generation?

Wow - coincidental I opened the same one looking for some cotton just two days ago. It was my mums and I just kept it after she passed away thinking that I might need something in it one day. It is full of old things like thimbles and a sock darner. Some of the things in it were my mum's mother's items. I remember them from when I was a little boy ( which does not seem that long ago). Passing it down through the generations. Thank you for posting this as it brings back fond memories of my family who have passed away now (I am the only one left)- it has made my day with happy nostalgic thoughts, all through a simple sowing basket.

I still have mine and have now inherited our mums as well.
