One woman may have taken things too far when she tried to sell her used wedding dress for an astonishing $18,000 on Facebook Marketplace.
Listed as a ‘timeless and classic’ wedding dress, the dress has been mocked by social media users for looking ‘absolutely horrid’.
The advertisement was discovered when one mum was looking for a Christmas tree for her son. She shared screenshots of the dress to a popular Facebook group.
She attached the image above in her post and captioned: ‘I found this gem in the wild. The original list price was $18,000! Lowered to $14,000, and now down to $11,000.’
The mum added that the dress looked like ‘grandma’s wrinkled duvet cover’.
The seller described the dress as made using ‘custom designed fabric’ and promised it had already been professionally dry cleaned for the next lucky bride.
The dress was revealed to have a sweetheart organza bodice that cascades into a large overskirt with a hoop underneath.
There’s also a detachable ruched skirt that’s covered with lace and flower details.
Many people were shocked by the price.
‘It’s absolutely horrid,’ said one person. They later added: ‘The hem looks like those frilly things you put under the mattress to hide all the stuff under your bed.’
A second commented: ‘Thank god the “pick-up” skirt trend is over…Most of them looked like a pike of waddled-up dirty sheets.’
Someone questioned why the outer fabric looked so stiff. ‘It looks noisy. The bride must’ve walked down the aisle sounding like a swishy parachute tracksuit.’
Others were simply in disbelief.
‘If you can spend $11,000 on a dress, you definitely aren’t looking on Facebook marketplace for one!’ They quipped.
