See the $18,000 wedding dress that the internet HATES

We all know that weddings can be pretty pricey affairs, especially these days with some reports saying that the younger generation is spending over $100,000 on ceremonies.

And even if someone manages to keep things low-key, there are still a lot of costs associated with tying the knot. There's the venue, catering, decorations, music, and let's not forget the dress!

But some brides end up paying a little bit more than what they bargained for, just like this one.

One woman may have taken things too far when she tried to sell her used wedding dress for an astonishing $18,000 on Facebook Marketplace.

Listed as a ‘timeless and classic’ wedding dress, the dress has been mocked by social media users for looking ‘absolutely horrid’.

The advertisement was discovered when one mum was looking for a Christmas tree for her son. She shared screenshots of the dress to a popular Facebook group.

She attached the image above in her post and captioned: ‘I found this gem in the wild. The original list price was $18,000! Lowered to $14,000, and now down to $11,000.’

The mum added that the dress looked like ‘grandma’s wrinkled duvet cover’.

The seller described the dress as made using ‘custom designed fabric’ and promised it had already been professionally dry cleaned for the next lucky bride.

The dress was revealed to have a sweetheart organza bodice that cascades into a large overskirt with a hoop underneath.

There’s also a detachable ruched skirt that’s covered with lace and flower details.

Many people were shocked by the price.

‘It’s absolutely horrid,’ said one person. They later added: ‘The hem looks like those frilly things you put under the mattress to hide all the stuff under your bed.’

A second commented: ‘Thank god the “pick-up” skirt trend is over…Most of them looked like a pike of waddled-up dirty sheets.’

Someone questioned why the outer fabric looked so stiff. ‘It looks noisy. The bride must’ve walked down the aisle sounding like a swishy parachute tracksuit.’

Others were simply in disbelief.

‘If you can spend $11,000 on a dress, you definitely aren’t looking on Facebook marketplace for one!’ They quipped.

Another wrote that it reminded them of grocery store Barbie cakes (that looked like this).

‘Anyone else having flashbacks to those grocery store Barbie cakes that had a doll in the middle and the ‘skirt’ was pretty much a pile of frosting?’ They asked.

That dress is actually Taffeta and would have been made in the 90s , that is when big ballgown dresses with pick up and flowers were around.

I can tell you now NO ONE WILL BUY IT not even for $500.

We had a few of these in the store room and had price tags of $800 , they didn't sell and we ended up cutting them up and binning them.
My boss was then able to claim it on tax.

There is no way she paid $18,000 for it

Why so mean about a dress that the bride loved? No one is forcing you to like it or buy it. It was obviously her dream dress - if it's not yours, just scroll on.

I agree, it is a very ugly dress & why look to spend $18,000, or even $11,000 & look on facebook. If you have that much to spend on a dress, I would think one would buy a much nicer, brand new dress!
