In the film Gone with the Wind, Vivienne Leigh, who played the part, had dark hair, but very red lipstick as I recall. Hollywood's version of ladies' fashion in 1800s.💋💄 😸
Scarlet is also a red, hence 'scarlet fever'. I believe it produced very pronounced redness to the skin of people who had this disease.

Scarlet is, of course, the signature colour of Ferrari. 🏎️ And fast women — a red petticoat is the centuries-old sign of a working girl from the red-light district. The heroine of Gone With the Wind was undoubtedly named to indicate she was indeed a Scarlet Woman. 💃🏽

I probably shouldn't have mentioned her. The book is incredibly boring and I slept through most of the film. I like Scarlett's final words because they mercifully marked the end of the dreary saga.

I never read the book, but I actually liked the film. Saw it for the first time about 25 yrs ago.
