I'm afraid Facebook is riddled with dodgy sites these days and, as you say, if you report them you
'll often get a message that it is not against their rules or policy. So many times my security software has warned me of sites which contain Phishing software or dangerous elements.

Be very careful on Facebook there are supposed dress shops mostly in Melbourne and Sydney saying they are closing down ! Same dresses on all the sites but different names. I ordered one and it arrived from USA and cost a lot more than I expected what with the exchange rate and postage. I only order from companies I know now. The dress was crap to boot !
Probably most of the ads on FB are fake!

I only buy from online stores that have a physical shop in Australia. They may be in another state from me, but I find that they are more trustworthy. Also, many of them only ship within Australia, while others may include shipping to NZ. So far, I haven't had a problem. (I also go directly to their online store - not via Facebook - after googling reviews on the site & the products, and looking for any information on whether they are a scam or not!)

All we can do these days is warn each other. It's out of control. I'm no longer accepting friend requests, even from those I have known for 50 years. You can tell by the silly questions they ask. "Hi, how you going, hope the family are all well?" So I write back and say "Mums doing fine" and they respond I know they are fakes because my Mum died 40 years ago. We can't control it so all we can do is fight back and share the knowledge.

I have had several family members who have had their identity stolen on facebook. These people have sent out messages asking us to befriend them. Luckily we have found out in time and contacted other members of the family to warn them not to befriend these people a second time as they are not what they seem. My daughter actually had to revert to another name in order to stop the person who took her name.

Yes happened to me through JB Hi Fi still fighting the company in UK they keep taking money out of my account because like a fool gave cc details for postage for laptop, omg has anyone else had this as I am sympathetic to this company, please help if this has happened to you, I am 82 pensioner and nearly going crackers to prove it was not me that purchased this product.

If they are still taking money out of your bank account, contact your bank & get them to put a stop on the direct debit. Your account statement will have the details required.

I don't think we are gullible or naive, the scams circulating now are so sophisticated it is very very hard to suss out. On saying that, we must be very vigilant, but not critical, of honest people being bamboozled.

If you believe anything on Facebook is real, I think you still believe in the tooth fairy.
