I am glad you trust PayPal. I have been scammed by PayPal though. Someone in Canada, got my details, and attempted to make a purchase for $2,000 USD! I found out when I received an email, from the scammer, which was obviously forwarded to me somehow. When I emailed them back, I told them the police had been notified, and they were in deep trouble. It must have been an employee of PayPal, because I don’t understand how they got my bank details. So, you are not even safe with PayPal. If I make a purchase now, I try to get a gift voucher, to pay for the goods. That way, you can’t be caught off guard. Please be careful, because scammers are getting smarter. Needless to say, I don’t even use PayPal anymore. Gezabel.

Hi Gezzabel,
I have just seen your post that is terrible what happened to you, I hope that you received your funds back.
I had a similar experience with hackers they hacked my debit card and scammers spent a fare bit of money before it was picked up as I don't have online banking I have to wait for the statements to be sent to me via post, but I received a phone call from my bank asking me if I had made any purchases on Facebook Marketplace which I don't.
I went to my local branch I was given about 6 months of statements someone hacked my card and went on a slow and steady spending spree over a few months.
So the bank immediately cancelled the card all the money was returned back to my accounts as it was easy to see I was not purchasing what was on the statements.
When it was added up it was several thousand dollars over the period, but as it was proved that I don't make the purchases all the funds have been returned to my account and I have a new debt card.
As you said the scammers are getting smarter for this reason my account is locked which effectively means it can not be hacked.
If it is it the bank problem not mine, which means problem solved for me.

I use a debit card for everything. I put money on it every payday and check it nearly every day.Unless I have a special purchase in mind I dont put more than $400.00.

I had a credit card with Australia post and I used to put money in to it when i Wanted to buy something . Had $400 in there and I ordered what I wanted to buy on line and the company I was buying from said there was insufficient funds . When I checked with Auspost someone had been using my card $70 for Uber Ride twice plus $80 at petrol station . I had less than $200 left . I rang Aus post several times and asked for statement . Put it in writing was the answer I got . So I wrote letter and asked what was happening with my money . No answer . I closed that account Quick smart . Never trust them again

I would be taking that further, it needs to be investigated by them and you should be refunded all money taken!
