Scam avoidance.

I heard today that when you are asked to send money to a bank account for something purchased, first send $50 and then check with the purchaser that they actually received the money in their account. Then send the balance of the money involved. If it is a scam, you have only lost $50 and not the total amount. This sounded like a good thing to do to me.

Thank you for informing us about this, @Roscoe44! A new scheme I haven't heard of yet either.

But if you were paying a scammer wouldn’t they say they received the smaller amount and then you pay the same account the full amount. Maybe I’m missing something.

Why not try $20?
