Is the $19.00 included in the rate per KwHr, what about the $1.00 ($30 a month, $360 Per annum) for the line charge, is the included.... just asking because I do not trust these electrical companies as far as I can spit them. On top of the $288 per year subscription.
That totals $648 a year

Ian, the thing is you don't actually have to trust them anymore and I'll explain what I mean by that later.

Yes, the quote I was given was inclusive of all, ie the cheaper variable wholesale electricity charge (which was estimated at 0.3010 per KWH), the daily supply charges and the $19 per month subscription fee and the discount credits. Amber stated as such quite clearly.

So when the start up discount (spread over 6 months goes, my bill may rise a bit. But it may not, as the wholesale prices are dropping whereas if like when I was on a higher retail rate that was fixed, I did not get the benefit of either a lowering wholesale rate or the 30 minute variations in the wholesale rate. So whilst the wholesale rate has been dropping, those of us on fixed retail rates have not seen any benefit. Only the providers who have fixed retail pricing deals with us benefited more because they don't pass on the generally lowering wholesale pricing to us, their customers in a timely fashion. They keep it until a they make the delayed decision to say oh, we are lowering your retail rates. (but, they retain a massive profit margin). There will be more of the tiny, pittance, adjustments from most of them as wholesale rates drop further, but is hardly in our interests as they keep most of the difference themselves. It's just greed and their playing a system that's hidden from us.

At the end of the day, it only took me a few minutes to get the quote and if it doesn't go as planned, I can switch to another for zero exit fees and no locked in contract fees.

Thing is, I was not happy yesterday paying ridiculous over the top amounts once a smart meter was installed or the retailer decided to gouge a bit more, so I've made the change.

Best thing is to do the process for a quote and read what they tell you. First thing to get past is the postcode because Amber source the cheaper renewable wholesale price to pass onto you. In SA where I am that is not an issue as most of our generated power is renewable.

Rule of thumb, you no longer need to trust them, if not happy, change to a seemingly better offer, or stay unhappy. If better offer doesn't eventuate, change again.

I never realised how quick and simple it is to change. No contact at all needed with the old mob. That's why you no longer need to trust them. You can change electricity providers as simply as changing your undies.

Put yourself in control, remove their power (pun intended) and place it in your own hands. Playing the role of the fat controller on your own turf is way more fun than being in the last carriage of a kilometre long shunt train.

I was right in my belief about the bad feeling I had following the recent installation of a smart meter to my property after the old meter failed (or did it fail!!) Vague feeling of uncertainty became a very real tangible concern after the first bill and prompted me to change to a provider that used a different business model from all the rest. Even though my new provider uses smart meters that know exactly what time of the day you are using power and how much you are using at a given time. My new provider has tools on offer to give one a chance to hold the key to lessening your bills and this new provider only charges a subscription fee, the supply charge, and the wholesale cost of the supply that he is charged with is passed onto you with no margins added on!

I am confident I was right because of the news article I received this morning from the ABC

EVERYONE should read this news article I received this morning!
If you think even higher electricity prices will not impact you, think again, because it will according to the ABC.

This article, put out by the ABC exposes the secret's hidden by politicians and electricity providers alike. Hidden because of their own lack of guts to tell us the truth amongst real concerns we would turn on them.
