We should start up a SDC Cat Appreciation Society.

When I was 4 years old in 1963, our neighbour was the President of The Royal Cat Society, Beulah Harvey.

She was also a Life Member of the Cat Protection Society of NSW, of which Ita Buttrose is the Patron.

Unfortunately, Beulah passed away on 9 August 1993. 🌹

Without Beulah in my early life, my love of cats for the past 60 odd years would never have happened.

I had a Chocolate Siamese, she was given to us as a rescue kitten. She was so beautiful and the life of the party.
Wow, she looks like a sealpoint, very dark for a chocolate point, they are usually the colour of milk chocolate.
I used to breed and show Siamese for many years.
Did the rescue people tell you she was a chocolate point
My cat Mishka is a Snowshoe but was sold to me, as a tiny kitten, as a ragdoll
Obviously I knew she wasn't they are nothing alike.
Anyway it really doesn't matter what colour she is, she's gorgeous and Siamese definitely are the life of the party.

Did you receive papers for your Ragdoll that is a Snowshoe?

We have had many cats over the years, but one noticable cat was our Troppo, named after my partners nicname.
We had him since the day he was born on Australia day 2002 and he soon ruled the roost with our other cats, even us.
One year my niece from England came over with my brother, who I didn't know existed, which is another story, Troppo jumped on her knees, something he had never once done in the past to anyone except us, he must have known she was a cat lover..

Delivery people and the Avon lady became to scared to knock on our door, they had to call out from the front lawn because Troppo would be sitting in "his" chair hissing at them, nasty old man he was.
Another time when a guy came from Foxtel to sign us up I was sitting in the lounge with a plaster cast on my leg, he came in to speak to me and Troppo, and another cat we had Ash, both sat on my knees like they were protecting me from him, I swear if he had tried to touch me they would have attacked him.
Then one day he disappeared, we despaired over that for many months until 15 months later he turned up on our front lawn, he'd run off when we tried to get near him then he must have remembered us and came knocking on the front door like he always did and ran straight to his food bowl, unfortunatly we had started giving our other cats water to drink so Troppo sat at the bowl looking at it in disgust until we put milk in it..
He stayed a month or so then disappeared again and never came back, we liked to think of him as sitting on an old ladies lap being pampered.
But there was one more memorable day, we had cat biscuits on the front door step, I looked out the door and saw Troppo eating them but I was shocked to see a little mini me Troppo with him, a tiny black and white kitten, we called him/her Casper because we never saw it again.
P.S. There was nothing wrong with his eye in the one photo, it was just the light or the way I took the picture or it could have just been him with his evil eyed look 😂

The rescue people told me she was a Chocolate and so did the vet, but it could have been from these photos where she is much lighter as a kitten.

She is definitely a sealpoint, a chocolate at that age is so much paler.
Rescue people do a wonderful job, but are not experts on the genetics of cats.
Neither are vets. Kittens are quite difficult to sex when they are young. A vet once told me that one of the kittens I had taken in for their needles was a female,I had registered it as a male. I thought I was pretty good at sexing them,.but took his word for it. I contacted the Feline Control Council and changed the registration.
Feeling pretty stupid because as a breeder I felt I should have known.
Several weeks down the track it became quite obvious that this little kitten was definitely a male.
Had to ring up and change the registration again.
You would think a vet would know, but he didn't.

They still want a hefty price for them though, way out of my price range.
Yes, unfortunately they do.
Many will not supply pedigree papers trying to keep more breeders out of the market.
I always provided papers with all my kittens. After all they all have the same pedigree. A bit like saying a human can't have their birth certificate because they're not likely to win any beauty contests, lol.
