none. The foxes were in a field. The chickens were in their own yard. Foxes come out at night and chickens go to roost at night.
 
None. Foxes come out at night and chickens go to roost at night. the chickens are usually locked away for the night.

Answer: 10. Listen closely: 30 cows, and twenty-eight chickens. Say EIGHT and ATE. They sound the same. Therefore, it means 20 ATE chickens. 30-20=10, so 10 cows didn't eat any chickens.

Answer: 10. Listen closely: 30 cows, and twenty-eight chickens. Say EIGHT and ATE. They sound the same. Therefore, it means 20 ATE chickens. 30-20=10, so 10 cows didn't eat any chickens.

Poor chickens - there may have been just 20 chickens eaten (or more ... it just says "20 ate chickens", not that they only ate one each)!
That means that 10 did not (of course, this is a verbal puzzle, as written, it makes no sense!) :)
