Oh boy, this bought flashbacks of my childhood at school in the 50's with "swan ink" and nib pens .... very messy indeed. It's clear one has to "read" the question and the answer is right there as it GIVES you the word. "IN" the beginning; "And" at he end with "KST" in the middle - therefore it's INKSTAND. Yay, now where's that fountain pen of mine????

Thank you for explaining the answer to this riddle .I couldn’t get it & had to look at the spoilers but still couldn’t see how it was the answer . Thank you .
