Of course, you can only use each paper bag a few times before it starts to fall apart, which is why it's handy to have a few at home, so you're never caught without one. But what do you do with all those old bags once they've seen better days?
Well, thanks to this clever shopper, we now know that there's a fantastic way to repurpose them.
The shopper, who goes by the username 'shantelleconway0' on social media, recently posted a video on the popular short-form video app TikTok showing how the new reusable shopping bags at Woolworths can easily be turned into wrapping paper.
Since the holiday season has just begun, Woolies has unveiled its new Christmas-themed paper bags, which feature a festive design with green stars, trees, and decorations printed on both the front and the back.
But what many people don't realise is that there is a small scissors symbol printed on the bottom of the bags that indicates where they can be cut.
Once the bags have been cut along the scissor lines, they can be opened up and used to wrap Christmas presents – saving you a lot of money on expensive wrapping paper! Pretty nifty, eh?
'I did my shopping at Woolworths the other day, and I got their reusable paper bags,' the shopper said in the video.
'And at the bottom, I could see little scissors. So not only are they reusable for your shopping, but you can use them as wrapping paper.'
'I bought this really cute cheese board, so I decided to chop one of the bags up and give it a go,' she went on to say. 'It was pretty easy. I just cut both long ends and then the smaller ends. Then I laid the paper out, folded it over and stuck it all down.'
The little-known hack was met with a lot of excitement from other TikTok users, with many people saying they had no idea the bags could be used for this purpose.
'You're so observant most wouldn't notice the scissor marks,' said one user, with another commenting: 'I noticed that about the bag yesterday! Such a clever idea!'
'Saw these and thought of wrapping paper, but never noticed the cut line,' added a third.
