Red Faces

Who remembers the hilarity (and occasional cringe) of Red Faces on Hey Hey It's Saturday? The infamous gong, the offbeat acts, and the panel's reactions made it an unforgettable part of Aussie TV history. Whether it was pure talent or a complete trainwreck, you couldn’t look away!

The act of a woman who sang Mammeries while her bosom went everywhere. Oh my goodness, we both cried and our tummies ached.

Sad to think those days are gone. Woke has cancelled the essence of it, satire and the Australianism of it. If Lex could see the funny side of it I think it was more about inclusion & not exclusion.

"Woke", a very misused amd misinterpreted word in todays society. Used these days as an intended insult to people who question any injustices happening in the world. The term started during Martin Luther Kings civil rights movement in the 1960's. To be woke in its intended sense is to be aware of social injustices. I absolutely loved Hey Hey its Saturday, and still do. Satire used on there is very much alive and well when you watch and listen to comediennes and inclusiveness..😁

There's that ridiculous word again, "woke", surely there is another word you can use instead of wanting to sound like some 20+ fool!

I loved Hey Hey It's Saturday, a few years ago they made some specials on the show and they were still hilarious in todays modern world.
Those who criticize it don't have much of an Aussie sense of humour in my opinion.
It was brain dead tv but it worked.
Red Faces was a highlight of the show.

I used to love the "What cheeses me Off" segment. Also "Pluck a Duck".

I also used to record the show each week in 1989 and post it to my then husband so the Australian Army troops in the United Nations Treaty Alliance Group, who were stationed in Namibia, could all watch it. They appreciated this piece of home, even enjoying the ads which I was asked to not edit out.

I also sent tins of Anzac Biscuits I made with each video. Lucky postage was free to troops, thanks to Bob Hawke and his Government.
