Pronunciation of Words

I have noticed a significant increase where persons, particularly TV announcers, news readers, voice overs, etc who pronounce words that end in a D sound that instead comes out as T.
ie: Weekend, Island, New Zealand ( we criticize our over the ditch cousins for six, fish and chips etc) Indeed, Stand etc etc.
You get the picture.
Stop and listen, then make your own decision.
As for me, I think this is corrupting our language.
