‘We asked [the Treasury and Department of Finance] to consider what measures can take pressure off families on [the] cost of living without putting pressure on inflation. That’s the key issue,’ he stated.

‘If you were just to distribute additional cash to people, you potentially make inflation worse and therefore don’t help to solve the problem.’

I think it makes sense. If you just dish out cash naturally people will spend it and up goes inflation again which in turn will have the RBA putting up interest rates. Best to put money into things like rent assistance, Medicare and many other non inflationary things than splash cash. I know a lot of people will say “what about me” but at the end of the day it’s about helping those most in need. I personally don’t need any help and I hate to see people suffering because of this world we are living in today which, along with greed from a few is causing this.

Thank you, I heartily agree with you. Insulting people certainly doesn’t help. Yes, course we’d like more financial help but I feel the government are doing their best in what has become a fragile and unstable world. I, for one, count my blessings every day for what I have. There are soo many people, both overseas and in Australia, whose lives have been turned upside down because of wars and disaster. Gratitude and kindness go a long way.
