A popular British chocolate bar has finally made its way Down Under thanks to numerous Aussie chocolate lovers who begged for the makers to make the treats available in the country.

Green and Black's Maya gold bar has gained a cult following in the UK for its rich, decadent taste that satisfies every chocolate lovers’ cravings.

Fortunately for us, the London-based chocolate company has finally decided to roll out stock of these delectable treats here in Australia, allowing us to get our hands on these delicious chocolate blocks.

Green & Black's ANZ senior marketing director Paul Chatfield said: “Brits abroad and Aussies have been eager to be able to get their hands on Maya Gold for quite some time.”

“In fact, we’ve been inundated with customer requests and feedback with expats wanting the taste of Maya Gold without having to catch an international flight.”

Mr Chatfield also noted that the treat — which was said to be mostly made with cocoa dark chocolate and was inspired by the traditional spiced chocolate drink from the Maya civilisation — has taken the top spot for being the bestselling chocolate bar in the UK for many years.

“We like to say that enjoying Maya Gold is like breaking off a square of gold,” he quipped.

“It’s based on a traditional, prized-chocolate drink from Belize and is a rich dark chocolate with a hint of orange, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. A 60 per cent dark cocoa chocolate, it has the perfect appeal to milk and dark chocolate lovers alike.”

“So the chance to make it easily accessible in Coles and IGA stores is a huge win for chocolate lovers in Australia."

The chocolate blocks are going to be available in Coles and IGA stores nationwide from April 30 for $4.25.

The brand is also offering a once-in-a-lifetime, chocolate-centric experience to seven lucky Australians.

I have checked the ingrediants and its appears to be gluten free but that is not to say there has not been cross contamination, I know a lot of companies are now starting to label their products if they are gluten free a great thing to happen.

Why are non-coeliacs fanatical about things being gluten free. If you don't have a medical condition which requires you to eat gluten free then humans need gluten in their diets. Don't just jump on this as, to most people, gluten free is just a fad which should be avoided. Clever marketing but not healthy.
