Even the Doctor did not realise that my mother was having twins. The midwife told him there is another one coming. That was 1946.

Mary and Paddy were expecting their first baby and Paddy was very excited on the trip to the hospital, and desperately hoping for a son. After several hours Mary produced a beautiful baby boy. The baby was handed to Paddy for a cuddle and then some activity recommenced on the birthing table and Mary promptly produced another baby boy. Mary and Paddy were revelling in their blessings when Mary felt the need to push, yet again, and a third son was delivered.
Paddy was aghast and exclaimed Begorah Begosh how did we manage three babies? Mary set to placate him and said “do you remember the night we ran out of KY Jelly and we used 3:1 Machine Oil?” Paddy interjected and moaned Holy Mary Mother of God, thanks be to Jesus we didn’t use WD 40!
