Peter Dutton reveals his pick for this controversial government position

With the Federal Elections underway, Australia has yet to choose new leaders that could lead the nation.

In a move that has caught everyone's attention, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has reshuffled his front bench and introduced a role straight out of another politician's playbook.

The government efficiency portfolio is aimed at streamlining government operations and cutting down on wasteful spending.

The newly-minted concept echoed United States President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency initiative.

At a press conference in Cairns, Dutton announced that MP David Coleman would be stepping in as shadow Foreign Affairs Minister.

MP Coleman will be taking over the retiring Senator Simon Birmingham.

However, his revelation of the government efficiency portfolio turned many heads.

This portfolio was not an official agency but rather represented a push towards fiscal conservatism and operational streamlining.

Dutton revealed his choice of manager for this portfolio.

He named Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price as his shadow Minister for Government Efficiency on top of her duty as the shadow Minister of Indigenous Australians.

Price has been a vocal opponent of the proposed Indigenous Voice to Parliament.

Her new role could see her applying a similar scrutiny to government spending and efficiency.

During the announcement, Dutton highlighted the perceived excesses of the current government.

'Six billion dollars a year spent on 36,000 new public servants in Canberra that are of no assistance whatsoever to the people of Cairns, and the people of regional communities who want additional investment,' Dutton lamented.

Dutton and his team have positioned themselves as the champions of the taxpayer, as they promised to redirect resources to where they believe they are most needed.

The reshuffle also saw other significant changes, with NSW MP Melissa McIntosh taking over the communications portfolio from Coleman.

Meanwhile, Senator Claire Chandler stepped into government services and the digital economy, and South Australian MP Tony Pasin took on roads and road safety.

In addition, NSW MP Julian Leeser and Senator Matt O'Sullivan have been appointed as shadow assistant ministers in foreign affairs and education, respectively.

Senator Kerrynne Liddle joined in as the shadow minister for Indigenous Health Services, in addition to her roles in Child Protection and Prevention of Family Violence.

Queensland MP Ted O'Brien should now be the shadow minister for Energy Affordability and Reliability, effectively complementing his Climate Change and Energy portfolios.

Lastly, MP Michael Sukkar has assumed the position of Manager of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives.

This reshuffle was more than just introducing new faces and titles; it was a preparation for the coming Federal Election.

'It's time for us to have a change of government in this country, to get our country back on track, and part of that is to rebuild international relations,' Dutton emphasised.

The introduction of the government efficiency portfolio, in particular, signalled a commitment to fiscal responsibility and a leaner government.

Whether this reshuffle would translate into electoral success remains to be seen.

For now, Dutton and his team's bold moves could redefine their party's image and priorities.

Did he buy it from Hamersley.
It was a very good deal, they were selling the houses for way less than what they cost.
The idea was to normalise the towns so that employees didn't feel that everything around them was Hamersley.
The people who took advantage of the scheme certainly made a pretty penny when and if they sold.
Yes, he did buy it from Hammersley - fully cyclone proof. They sold it when he retired and still lives in WA. Yes, I would say he got a huge profit, but being honest he probably didn't need the money, after that career. lol

Jacinta has been a "public servant" for many years in the NT - keep up.
Jacinta Price has NO tertiary qualifications whatsoever, having "graduated" from St Philips College in 1998 as her only academic achievement.

In addition, she is a regular commentator on Sky News Australia and a contributor to The Australian newspaper, both entities owned by News Corp, of which have strong connections to the scumdog Rupert Murdoch, a LNP lackey.

Price is not to be trusted, nor her "boss", Potatohead Dutton.

Stuff tertiary I put my money with getting her hands dirty with LIFE experiences any day - too many egg heads with no life experience drawing a wage and diddling around the edges. And I would have Dutton any day above no life experience Albo and Co!

If it is too much for her she can always leave or take a lower position. Oh hold on pay packet much less either way. No one is forcing you to stay. Public servants are so overpaid compared to the private sector.
Really?

The Prime Minister of Australia gets paid in the vicinity of $600000 per annum while CEOs of major companies get a measley $10 million plus.

Being head of an organisation looking after 27 million people is a much greater responsibility than overseeing 50000 employees.

Trump is doing something about his country by being tough not like our wishy washy labour under labour the country has gone backwards likes to buy votes from the brain dead Dutton will give this country a shake up thank goodness get it back in line
Do you call it being tough. Half of his directives he's already back peddled on because some are outright ridiculous or unconstitutional and have been halted by the courts.
The man doesn’t understand basic economics, which is probably the reason he has been bankrupted so many times.
Tariffs don't make America wealthy they cost the people on everything they buy.
Where are the workers going to come from, for all the menial jobs the yanks don't want to do themselves, after he has finished his deportations.
Most of these people are not violent criminals but everyday people living ordinary lives and contributing to the economy.
The man is a narcissistic nut case and the people will get exactly what they voted for and heaven help them.

He was one of the smart ones.
I was surprised how many people didn't take up the offer. Not the sharpest knives in the drawer obviously. Lol

Oh boy Aralia. What rock have you been living under.
CEOs of private companies earn multi million dollar salaries.
Why do you think we get such a lousy lot of politicians.
When you pay peanuts you get monkeys.
Most pollies are just on a power trip and don't cut it in the private sector.
That would have to take the prize of the dumbest comment today. Maybe google it before you comment.

It is evident that a casual poster has deleted his or her comment on Price's "contribution" to the Australian music industry.

I wonder what that "contribution" is and what bearing it has on to one's quality as a politician.

The US has a history of electing actors and other "entertainers" to major political appointments. Australia does not need to go down that path of having two-bit idiots in power like Trump.

Can't believe that such a large percentage of the yanks voted for such a fruitloop.
I was reading somewhere the other day that the more uneducated people are the ones still having large families when they don't have the earning capacity to educate them and on and on it goes. The result being that the uneducated are outbreeding the educated

Guess that's the reason behind the Yankee vote.

Apologies to the smart people who have large families but do educate their kids.

I love everything Trump has done so far and I think Dutton will benefit Australia if he does the same. I am sick of the woke 💩 and the climate change BS. I hope Dutton will get us out of the Paris agreement, UN and WHO si we can be a prosperous AND sovereign nation.
The science is unequivocal and cannot be dismissed as BS anymore. The climate is undergoing a massive transformation (caused in large part by what the human species is doing) and if we don't recognise that and keep trying to do what we can to limit it's devastating impacts we will all suffer (and even moreso for any future generations which I imagine you may have a stake in...) Please read the long-proven reputable science on this and stop buying into the climate denialisms pushed by a small minority who are the ones pushing "BS" on this.

Trump’s presidential campaign and election smells of corruption. Money, money, money. Not the number of votes. 🤔

The people I know over there who voted for him so their groceries would get cheaper. Not sure how that will happen with his decisions he's making.

An efficiency department is not a bad idea as long as the suitable individual will run it. But Trump, who always stumble and mess things up, he appointed a Nazi sympathiser Elon Mask who a large portion of Americans are now angry that it appears a majority of fuck ups of Trumps early Executive Orders seem to gleaned from Masks leanings.
Terrible ones are the 25% tariffs he imposed effective this week against Canada & Mexico. He also threaten Europe with additional tariffs. There is a majority sentiment in USS that it is the American people who will surely suffer. His pardoning of 1,600 plus convicted January 6 white supremacists did not go well too.
Now he demands to annex Denmark’s Greenland and the Panama Canal.
I pray that Australia will not be jeopardised by any of Trumps future actions. Countries around the world are praying about it too! May the Lord save the world from Trump (Ukrainians are not very confident, poor them)
