Peter Dutton reveals his pick for this controversial government position

With the Federal Elections underway, Australia has yet to choose new leaders that could lead the nation.

In a move that has caught everyone's attention, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has reshuffled his front bench and introduced a role straight out of another politician's playbook.

The government efficiency portfolio is aimed at streamlining government operations and cutting down on wasteful spending.

The newly-minted concept echoed United States President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency initiative.

At a press conference in Cairns, Dutton announced that MP David Coleman would be stepping in as shadow Foreign Affairs Minister.

MP Coleman will be taking over the retiring Senator Simon Birmingham.

However, his revelation of the government efficiency portfolio turned many heads.

This portfolio was not an official agency but rather represented a push towards fiscal conservatism and operational streamlining.

Dutton revealed his choice of manager for this portfolio.

He named Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price as his shadow Minister for Government Efficiency on top of her duty as the shadow Minister of Indigenous Australians.

Price has been a vocal opponent of the proposed Indigenous Voice to Parliament.

Her new role could see her applying a similar scrutiny to government spending and efficiency.

During the announcement, Dutton highlighted the perceived excesses of the current government.

'Six billion dollars a year spent on 36,000 new public servants in Canberra that are of no assistance whatsoever to the people of Cairns, and the people of regional communities who want additional investment,' Dutton lamented.

Dutton and his team have positioned themselves as the champions of the taxpayer, as they promised to redirect resources to where they believe they are most needed.

The reshuffle also saw other significant changes, with NSW MP Melissa McIntosh taking over the communications portfolio from Coleman.

Meanwhile, Senator Claire Chandler stepped into government services and the digital economy, and South Australian MP Tony Pasin took on roads and road safety.

In addition, NSW MP Julian Leeser and Senator Matt O'Sullivan have been appointed as shadow assistant ministers in foreign affairs and education, respectively.

Senator Kerrynne Liddle joined in as the shadow minister for Indigenous Health Services, in addition to her roles in Child Protection and Prevention of Family Violence.

Queensland MP Ted O'Brien should now be the shadow minister for Energy Affordability and Reliability, effectively complementing his Climate Change and Energy portfolios.

Lastly, MP Michael Sukkar has assumed the position of Manager of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives.

This reshuffle was more than just introducing new faces and titles; it was a preparation for the coming Federal Election.

'It's time for us to have a change of government in this country, to get our country back on track, and part of that is to rebuild international relations,' Dutton emphasised.

The introduction of the government efficiency portfolio, in particular, signalled a commitment to fiscal responsibility and a leaner government.

Whether this reshuffle would translate into electoral success remains to be seen.

For now, Dutton and his team's bold moves could redefine their party's image and priorities.

Let's focus on Duttons crazy Nuclear Power plans. Australia has made great progress towards safe energy production. Let's not risk the future.
What about Blackout Bowen and all his crazy ideas, crumbling around him with hydrogen now hitting the skids with backers pulling out , nothing wrong with nuclear after all we have Lucas Heights in Sydney, without that a lot of Aussies would not be here ,plus nuclear subs on the horizon , times have changed .

Research Dutton's great great grandfather, Charles Boydell Dutton, and you find the former Lands Minister of Queensland in the mid 1880s to be a very nasty person.

What became Charles Dutton’s central Queensland seat had been the site of the Cullin-la-ringo Massacre – the largest single killing of white colonists, 19 men, women and children.

That was in revenge for the murder of Gayiri men by a neighbouring squatter.

And in revenge for Cullin-la-ringo, some 370 Gayiri men, women and children were killed.
You can pick your friends but you can't pick your family.

Sovereign nation hey, right wing haters of anyone different. Always was and always will be aboriginal land. And I'm not aboriginal.
What happened to the people they replaced, history repeating itself.

Not as corrupt as was Victoria .
Surely you remember former Queensland Police and Racing Minister Russ Hinze and the Fitzgerald inquiry.

He owned a string of trotters while with the Joh Bjelke-Petersen's Coalition government. At a trots meeting at Redcliffe, he ordered every trotter be swabbed....excluding his own! Needless to say, Hinze's runners won most of the meeting.

That is corruption at the highest level!

It is evident that a casual poster has deleted his or her comment on Price's "contribution" to the Australian music industry.

I wonder what that "contribution" is and what bearing it has on to one's quality as a politician.

The US has a history of electing actors and other "entertainers" to major political appointments. Australia does not need to go down that path of having two-bit idiots in power like Trump.
Happy to clarify that Jacinta herself is not in the music game - her husband is and he is well liked and respected just as she is - not that you would see respect shown here on these pages it would appear. I am always amused by the carry on here but you have all out done yourselves today - some of you have been standing on thin ice - be careful these comments don't see the light of day as there are those who will object to vilification for the sake of it.

Vilification? Do you know the legal definition of such a term?

Let's look further. "Vilification" refers to a public act, such as speech or writing, that offends, insults, humiliates or intimidates another person on the basis of race, sexuality, age or disability.

Firstly, the Seniors Discount Club is technically not a public forum as you need to have membership to post and participate. STRIKE ONE!

Secondly, in none of my posts on this subject have I made offensive, insulting, humiliating or intimidatory statements to any other SDC member with regard to political views since political views are not covered under vilification legislation, only workplace laws where it is an offence to discriminate against another person because of political beliefs. STRIKE TWO!

Want to have a day in court trying to sue me for a dreamed up "offence"? Probably wouldn't last 15 minutes at the most, when the magistrate dismisses your hollow claims all the while laughing!

BRING IT ON!

Really? I am happy to clarify that Jacinta herself was in the music game. She didn’t mind taking the opportunity to get a Govt. grant through indigenous scheme to further her music career. LOL. She got a better pay from taxpayers now...the “useful coloured help” for white conservatives. Respected - NO

Sounds like you are Jacinta’s biggest fan! 😊

I don’t see you showing respect to some of the SDC members’ comments. Read your last long sentence, it appears you are terribly full of yourself and disrespectful towards others. Example of your ridiculous statements:

…you have all outdone yourselves today…standing on thin ice…be careful these comments don’t see the light of day…”

What is that supposed to mean? A feeble threat? 🤣

"There are many many questions swirling around an independent aboriginal school in Alice Springs called Yipirinya and plans for a $12 million boarding facility at the school.
Although Dutton, Price and Littleproud have been demanding $12 m from the Government for the boarding facility, no mention has been made by any of them that Bess Price, the mother of Jacinta Price, who was a Country Liberal Party member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 2012 to 2016 was appointed Assistant Principal of Yipirinya in 2022."

"Bess Price getting a job with Zodiac Business Services is similar to the current $12 million school funding scandal because Peter Dutton, Jacinta Price and David Littleproud etc would all know they have to declare the conflict of interest with Bess Price working at the school and pushing for the funding as it will also erode “the public’s trust in politicians” by failing to declare it, which they currently are"

LOL...corrupt??? Stinks to high heaven!

Respect??? Respect is earned. The only thing Jacinta has earned is the title of an 'Uncle Tom"!

Maybe have some knowledge before you make spurious and unfounded claims. From ABC's Triple J Unearthed website:-

In November 2013 Jacinta Price is launching her debut album - DRY RIVER - a mix of folk, soul and country music that pays tribute to her life growing up in Central Australia. DRY RIVER is produced by Australian country music legend Bill Chambers and released by CAAMA Music.
In addition:-

Price is a NAIDOC Award-winning singer, songwriter and recording artist. As a child, she learned the violin before joining local hip-hop groups Flava 4 and C-Mobs.
Admittedly, her music is crap, but does not detract from the fact that does she does have a place in the music game.
