Orange Biscuits

These are a Greek biscuit which you will find in Greek bakeries and Greek Sweet shops known as koularakia
Absolutely delicious and not too sweet
Recipe can be doubled
Ingredients
2 cups plain flour
1 /2 cup of orange juice
Orange rind of 1 orange
125 g Butter room temperature
3/4 cup of sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup luke warm milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of bi carb of soda
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of cloves powder
1 extra egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of water for glazing
METHOD
1. In a bowl mix butter and sugar and beat Until light
2. Add eggs one at a time to the butter mixture and beat well after each addition
3. Add orange rind, milk and all other ingredients except flour to mixture and stir until combined
4. Add flour slowly mixing after each addition, bring together into a ball shape.
5. cover bowl with plastic and put into fridge for 30 minutes
6. Place dough onto bench and break off small pieces and , roll into a small sausage shape around 3 inches long , you can twist them or shape them into whatever shape you want
7. place onto a greased or paper lined trays allow room as they will rise.
8. Whisk together the egg yolk and water and brush the cookies
9 . Cook in a preheated oven 200 C for 15 minutes or until golden brown
Cool on trays completely, then store in an airtight container. These last for maybe 4 weeks
NOTE : IF DOUGH IS TOO STICKY JUST ADD A LITTLE MORE FLOUR UNTIL IT IS WORKABLE
