OnePass now offers more bang for your buck when you shop in-store! But is it worth it?

We all love saving money; who doesn't, really? And if you're someone who likes to shop, then you've probably heard of some of Australia's big-name rewards programs.

That's why this might come as a piece of good news: two of the most well-known rewards programs out there have come together to offer customers more savings.

Starting today, shoppers who sign up for OnePass with linked Flybuys accounts can collect five times the Flybuys points in-store at some of Australia's big-name chains: Kmart, Target, Officeworks, and Bunnings, as well as the online retailer Catch.

This deal means that, on an average purchase of $50, shoppers will collect 250 Flybuys points. This could be worth quite a lot in savings, depending on how you use your Flybuy points.

For those who may not be familiar, OnePass is a digital shopping membership that provides a range of benefits across Wesfarmers brands.

As of the time of writing, the membership costs $4 per month or $40 per year, saving $8. You can also bundle it with Disney+ for $14.99 per month, saving $3.

But is signing up for OnePass with its linked Flybuys account worth the fee? The answer to that question really depends on your specific needs and preferences.

If you convert your Flybuy points into Flybuy dollars, 2,000 points will net you roughly $10. This means you'd need to accrue at least 8000 points annually to break even on the cost of a OnePass membership; that's around thirty-two $50 purchases yearly, or just over one a fortnight.

But if you're looking forward to using your Flybuy points to purchase airfares via the Velocity Frequent Flyer program, the savings could be much greater.

Aside from those, members of the OnePass program also get access to free delivery on eligible items from Kmart, Target, Catch, Bunnings and Officeworks, express Click and Collect, and 365-day change-of-mind returns.

To sum it up, OnePass is a great shopping membership that makes shopping at five major retail brands in the country easier and more rewarding. And if you want to save money on delivery fees and use the other program benefits, you'll definitely benefit from it.

In fact, it might be cheaper to buy OnePass for a month at $4 than to pay the shipping cost for a single order, which could cost up to $9 or more.

But if you don't shop much or are just interested in bonus points, OnePass might not be the best choice unless you spend more than $200 a month or $2,000 a year.

Keep in mind that the membership is flexible. You can get it just for the month when you have a big purchase planned, like buying supplies for a major project at Bunnings.

Key Takeaways

  • Two of Australia's largest rewards schemes are uniting to offer extra savings to shoppers at big-name chains, including Kmart, Target, Officeworks, and Bunnings.
  • Shoppers signed up to OnePass with linked Flybuys accounts can collect five times the Flybuys points on their in-store purchases.
  • An average purchase of $50 will give shoppers 250 Flybuys points. However, to break even on the cost of a OnePass membership ($4 per month or $40 annually), customers would need to accrue at least 8000 points annually.
  • Other OnePass membership benefits include free online delivery on eligible items, express Click and Collect, and 365-day change-of-mind returns.

Does not suit my spending profile. Not interested.

Have been a member of OnePass for years (since it started and was called another name which for the life of me I can't remember:unsure:)..Originally joined when it was exclusively with Catch, for free delivery on most of their range. Highly recommended! (y) This was before it was taken over by Wesfarmers...couldn't give a rat's @rse about flybuy points myself!

Who would have guessed? Wesfarmers behind the whole thing. With Bunnings, Officeworks, Coles, Kmart, Target, Priceline and Kleenheat tucked under its monolithic corporate wing, Wesfarmers decide to combine OnePass and FlyBys, which Wesfarmers both own, into one entity. Well, that's a no brainer.

I’ve been a member of One Pass for ages & most definitely benefit with free postage from Catch, Target & KMart. I’m in the process of linking my Flybuys membership to Bunnings & Officeworks as points go to Virgin. A couple of years ago the two of us flew to Perth & back for around $100 on Virgin simply by converting flybuys points. Definitely worth it for me.

I like flybuys but don't shop on line so therefore do not pay subscriptions for anything and don't believe you should have to. If you can't join for free then I am not interested and the majority of people who need to benefit can't afford to pay to join.

Yeah, nah!

I very rarely do online shopping and then only to order something I cannot get in local stores. I am also no interested in click and collect.

I get $50 worth of groceries every 10 weeks using my Flybuys points at Coles and now with OnePass getting on board as well, we use the points for groceries and earn even more. My hubby always shops at Bunnings and spends a lot there, so it will certainly benefit the two of us when it comes to grocery shopping and paying less.
