Jessica Sepel, who founded a multi-million dollar health business JS Health and authored several health books, has revealed her golden health rules for those who are looking to get healthier this 2022.
In her post, she advises her readers to not settle for a "diet resolution", labelling it a bad idea.
The nutritionist explained that these diets are "not designed to be sustainable" and that following these "perfect" programs can often leave you pressured, which could backfire on your health goals.
She writes: "You do not need a resolution to diet to live a healthy life, you just need to create positive habits, rituals and routines - and make a few small changes each week."
"Putting yourself on a crazy diet will only last short-term. There is a much simpler way to achieve your best health and mental peace. We have to start to think of a healthy life as a long-term, forever situation. A lifestyle, not a diet."

So, what exactly should we do to achieve a healthier lifestyle?
1. One step at a time
Jessica advises that achieving a healthier lifestyle does not happen overnight and you can't do everything at once.
She writes: "Remember that the journey to better health is not something achieved overnight."
"Even if you begin your journey in winter you'll already feel revitalised by the time summer comes around."
2. Try one new exercise
The nutritionist says that picking up a new exercise and committing to doing it at least once a week is the best way to ease into your new health goals without the need for pressuring yourself into a "strict" regime.
Jessica quips: "Gradually increase your exercise to two or three times a week, and build up the habit slowly."
"Remember that the exercises do not have to be strenuous and can be as simple as walking around the park."

3. Be kind to yourself as you try new things
Jessica advises against being competitive when you try out new things.
"You may not be the best in your first pilates class (or your second), but it's important to remember that every small step you make is helping you lead a happier and healthier life," she says.
4. Boost your greens
Adding some greens to your diet has a lot of benefits, according to the nutritionist.
"You can do this by experimenting with different produce and trying to eat in season - it's cheaper and nature gives us what we need at different times of the year," she advises.
5. Be healthy on a budget
Jessica says that you don't need to splurge just to be healthy.
"Be efficient with the cost of looking after your health where you can," the nutritionist says.
"Look around for different gyms, and see what extra value your health insurance could offer you."
6. Avoid alcohol and stimulants
For those who enjoy sipping on a cup of coffee or some booze, you might want to consider toning it down.
Jessica says: "They can cause you to make unhealthy choices without even realising. Even though it is tempting to hibernate with a bottle of red wine at night, try switching it for herbal tea instead."
"Your body will thank you for this one! As with everything, cut down slowly - health is a journey and a lifestyle, not a fad."
7. Get your family and friends on board
Who doesn't want some good company when going through a journey?
Jessica says that you will enjoy venturing into a healthy lifestyle better when you have your loved ones join you.
She explains: "This will make the journey to better health more fun and keep you all accountable to stick to your plans."
8. Experiment in the kitchen
Trying healthier versions of some classic dishes can be a fun way to kickstart your health goals.
Jessica also shared her healthier version of the classic butter chicken curry.
9. Believe you can do it
Jessica advises: "You are powerful and can live the life you have always wanted – no doubts."
"Only put out positive thoughts. Thinking that way takes practice, but what have you got to lose?"
