My mother died in March from lung cancer this year, so it will be the first Christmas ever she isn't with us. However, we will be thinking of her on the day.
Condolences on the loss of your mother. I know how you feel, my daughter died in July this year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family♥️🎄🎁

When I was 3 my dad did up my old bike to look new and he took the bike and my self to the childrens home where we donated it. It was so much fun to see these children. And when were a lady gave me a tiny little hand made doll that I took every were with me up till I started nursing
In 1972. I wish all the children in the world peace and happiness 🎄🎄

Finding out years later that as a widowed, fulltime working mother, raising 3 daughters on her own...my mother hand made our gifts from "santa". No store bought but they were the most wonderful times full of laughter and surprise and just love. The one thing I miss that I loved to hear is her laugh and her sense of fun when times were truly hard.

My favourite Christmas memory is 21 years ago. Unfortunately my baby sister had passed on 1 September 2003 at the age of 31. We knew she wasn't going to live long but little did we know she knew exactly how much time she had and she wasn't going to be with us for Christmas. So she brought us all very special gifts to cherish for mum to give us on Christmas day. Mine was the most beautiful mirror, her message " every time you look into this mirror you are looking into happiness don't be sad for me be happy for your babies and your future I love you and thank you for being the most amazing big sister one can ask for"
A memory,a treasure,a life of looking forward in the mirror not backwards and I see our sisterhood love every time.

Our family went to our fathers work Christmas party, I was about 8 years old and I remember a boy about the same age who was blind, he went up to the huge Christmas tree and smelt the tree and touched the ornaments. To this day I love the smell of the trees and it reminds me of that day.

My favourite treasured Christmas memory was Christmas 2020 as it was the last Christmas my family and I got to spend with my beloved husband of 36 years and my beautiful little dog of 15 years before they both passed away the following year. I will always remember that special Christmas always. Christmas is not the same anymore and I miss them both so much every day.

Sorry for your loss. You take care and I hope you will have a very nice Christmas 🎄❤️😘

No it's not. I had a Christmas dinner at one of my daughter's yesterday
It was to get the family together for a dinner as Christmas day they go seperate ways to have time with the in laws for Christmas dinner. I missed the fact there was one of us missing. I felt really sad about that. I also found out that one of my granddaughter's has recently had an operation as she was diagnosed with cancer. They kept it secret from me. They don't tell me these things because when I had my heart attack 5 years ago the doctors told them that they didn't think I was going to live. So now they keep these things from me.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all at SDC

Christmases when I was little were just amazing. How exciting it was when you opened your eyes on Christmas morning and there are presents at the end of your bed. How did that happen! How come I couldn't stay awake to see Santa ! Did I sleep so heavy I didn't hear him coming through the door, or down the chimney!
This process was carried on through my children, my grandchildren and I guess will go with them when they have children. 🥰
However, there will be thousands of children not so lucky this year, without food, clothing and a lack of everything exciting that relates to Christmas. This is just awful, and I feel for them on a daily basis. May a miracle happen soon. 😢

Xmas 1945. My father the town baker and 5 year old me delivering bread around the outlying homes. One small property widow with 7 kids , my dad gave them a sack of bread, and a pudding , saying they were left overs in the shop so that they still had their pride. Me not so much the pudding was ours .
Maybe not a crackers and Xmas tree story but shows the true Xmas spirit.

I was living in a country town on the Murray river & I was about 5 yrs old and received an umbrella for Xmas. Like a natural thing to do to check it out, I put it up inside & wandered outside only to find a snake curled up in the garden. I can remember yelling out to my parents, but can’t remember if my father killed it or it slithered away. I have often heard that if you put an umbrella up inside it is bad luck, well it certainly was bad luck for me!

Not so much about Christmas but my son (1988) was born the day before my mums' birthday and my grandson (2018) was born on her birthday.
She used to tell everyone "look what I got for my birthday this year"

I was about four and as it was during the war, my mother was alone with five children. My sister climbed up on the kitchen dresser to get a dish and succeeded in tipping the whole dresser over. Every piece of crockery was broken except one cup. My mother scoured the local shops and all we had for Christmas Day were glass plates and cups.

They would have been better than the paper ones. When I could get around and near second hand shops I looked for the bone handled knives. They are good and today I have a couple of bone handled knives and prefer them to any other knives.
