We all know that Prince Harry has decided to pursue a life away from the royal family.

So it's not surprising that the younger son of Princess Diana has to make his way in the world, and he's done so successfully (some would say) by creating a consultancy business and lending his royal name to various businesses and charities.

One of the best deals for the 38-year-old royal is his Chief Impact Officer role at the American mental health company BetterUp, which allegedly earns him a staggering seven-figure salary every year. Pretty good, huh?

But while Prince Harry's reportedly getting a handsome pay packet, his colleagues at BetterUp are not convinced he's putting in anywhere near enough work to justify the salary.

One employee bluntly told a media outlet when asked about Harry’s daily responsibilities: 'From what I see? I'm going to go with zero things.'

Another added, 'Every article mentions his role at BetterUp then goes on to roast [him and Meghan]. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.'

The royal’s role at the company is displayed with equal significance to the two co-founders on its leadership page but provided little detail of his responsibilities.

So far, he has performed common roles: making appearances at public summits and speaking out in favour of the Silicon Valley start-up. He did so in March this year at the BetterUp Uplift summit and then again at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

However, the company has fallen on hard times when it ‘missed its financial targets’ last year and had to lay off 16% of its workforce last week. This affected a hundred or so San Francisco-based employees.

Broadcaster Esther Krakue weighed in on this issue. 'His value to the company only came down to the fact that he is Prince Harry, not that he has any sort of background as a Chief Impact Officer,' she told Sky News Australia.

Krakue questioned how much actual work Prince Harry can do for the company when he’s busy filming a documentary, releasing a book, doing promotional tours, and focusing on his other commitments like Netflix and the Invictus Games.

‘He’s apparently planning another tour in Africa, and his wife has been busy as well,’ she said.

‘So really, how much work could he actually have done?’

It remains to be seen if Prince Harry will respond to these latest claims.

He got $30 million from his mother and that was spent on moving to Canada then California buying the Montecito house. He said so in the Oprah interview. The pair of them have very high expenses and given they have lost Spotify and other projects have been cancelled or rejected, they are seriously in need of an injection of funds. They did not even donate the funds from Archwell to charity as they said they would and that is under investigation by the American authorities. They have champagne tastes on what is now a beer budget!
