Hold tight; there's more to it! Arnott's has dropped hints that the most popular flavour suggestions might inspire a new product!

History of Arnott’s Shapes

According to Museumoflost, the history of Arnott’s Shapes began with a German baker, Adolf Brockhoff, who moved to Australia in 1863 to start a new life.

With his savings, he opened a general store before moving into the production of biscuits, crackers, and other snack items.

In 1890, control passed to his eldest son, Frederick, who established factories in NSW and WA and developed Chocolate Ripple Biscuits, Savoy and Salada Crackers, as well as the now-iconic Shapes.

The post-war period saw a cultural shift in Australia, with increased exposure to American consumer goods, including snacks.

To combat this, in 1953, Brockhoff Biscuits relocated to a larger site in Burwood and introduced Shapes in 1954. With unique shapes and lively advertising, they successfully competed with American offerings.

This is the ingredients list for these savoury biscuits:
Wheat Flour, Vegetable Oil, Starch (Wheat), Salt, Tomato Powder, Yeast, Garlic, Parsley, Sugar, Worcestershire Sauce, Onion Powder, Baking Powder, Natural Flavour, Vegetable Protein Extract (from Maize), Spices, Antioxidants (E300, E307b From Soy, E304), Flavour Enhancer (E635), Emulsifier (Soy Lecithin), Malt Extract (From Barley).

This is the nutritional profile:
Carbohydrates15.8g63.4g
Per serving. Each serving size is 25 grams.

Hate to say this but not a good food at all. Very High in carbohydrates and will cause your insulin to spike. They also contain an array of chemicals and other ingredients that we should stay away from. Things like Vegetable Oil, Wheat Flour, and flavour enhancer just to name a few. You will note that almost all ingredients are highly processed. Remember, if someone says, 'I only eat them in moderation', it is highly unlikely that they will stop at 25 grams, usually people once they start will eat the whole packet in one sitting.

Just adding a bit of reality for you.

Regards

Is this for real? These so-called “new” flavours have been out there for months and I have been buying some them. Unless there is some subtle variations the Bacon & Cheese I have buying for a few years, and the other flavours have been around for quite some time as well.
Maybe someone can provide a clarification!

Flavour enhancer 635 is made from beetroot and yeast extract. All of the ingredients are processed, but none are more harmful than what's in any biscuits, and they're low in sugar. I buy them at Christmas to put out with other nibbles.

It's not like you eat a whole box at a time if you have any issues with any food then you don't eat any of it

All of Arnotts biscuits are unhealthy. Unfortunately, since it ceased being an Aystralian company, vegetable oil is used as an ingredient, instead of butter. Vegetable oil is palm oil, the worst oil for clogging up the arteries. The second worst one is cotton seed oil. Vegetable oil, on a label, always means palm oil. Unfortunatel, many biscuit manufacturers, worl wide, use palm oil. We are better off, health wise, to bake our own.

It's not the biscuit flavours that are new, it's the recommendation of things to add to change the flavour. Garlic powder added to cheese and bacon flavour, etc.

Have been pretty much living on the Vegemite ones for a couple of yrs now. Best biscuit Arnott's has ever brought out. My grandchildren also love them.
