Kmart shoppers are up in arms over the sudden disappearance of a popular range of products from stores nationwide.
Hundreds of disgruntled customers have taken to social media to voice their grievances over the missing items, with many claiming that the shelves in their local stores are now 'empty' and 'no stock' is available to purchase.
So what's going on?
Sharing on TikTok, one shopper from Sydney, who goes by the username @organisedm, claimed that several makeup, skincare, and beauty products were removed from the shelves at her local Kmart store.
'Has all the Kmart beauty stock been sent to another state or something?' the shopper can be heard saying in the video she posted on the platform.
She then proceeded to show photos of her Kmart store, revealing that scores of products missing from the shelves.
'I’ve been to a couple of stores in Sydney recently and they all look like this. This one is probably the worst, like there was really nothing,' she went on to say.
'There’s heaps of this Monday shampoo, but where is everything else? Like, what’s the hold-up? This is Elf - I always want it, but it’s never here.'
The video has since gone viral, prompting hundreds of Kmart shoppers from around the country to come forward and complain about the same issue at their local stores.
A user from Brisbane said it's the same over there and that her local store is empty too.
Meanwhile, a user from Western Australia said that her local store is also empty. 'It’s not hiding over here in WA, we’ve got nothing either.'
One more user from Melbourne said that she doesn't know where the other customers are getting products from as her Kmart store is still empty.
'It’s the same in Victoria. I’ve been to about six different Kmarts lately and the shelves are empty,' another user added.
Customers in Adelaide joined the conversation and confirmed their local stores are also empty.
Kmart's beauty buys – particularly its Elf make-up collection – have received a huge amount of attention from social media users in the past few months, leading to an increase in demand for the products.
It has also been alleged that Kmart's beauty shelves are frequently targeted by thieves. 'I asked a worker, apparently, it’s because everything gets stolen,' one user said in the comments.
A Kmart spokesperson confirmed that the retailer is making significant efforts to increase the number of beauty products available for purchase at its retail locations.
The spokesperson stated: 'Our affordable beauty range has been widely popular with customers, particularly over the last few months as we saw lots of popular products sell out quickly over the Christmas period.'
'The team have been working hard to keep shelves full and we are expecting more stock in stores shortly.'
