Definitely overhyped. "King of Rock and Roll"? Not even a Prince. More like the "Pauper of Rock and Roll". Devoid of any talent.
I’m not a fan of Elvis Presley, but there are a couple of later songs he sang that I like. (“In the Ghetto” and “Always on my Mind”.)

But I agree with those that say he didn’t have much talent. He just had a good manager who knew how to market him.

When we lived in South Africa my step father was a rep for a record company in the early '60s. There was a rumour going around that Elvis' manager took a bet that he could make a "star" out of a not-so-good unknown singer. The end result was Elvis.
Fortunately I was born in 1953 so was a Beatles and Rolling Stones fan. Now I love classics. Like a good wine, I've mellowed with age.
