Mum shares tips on how to LEVEL UP your grazing game, including one nifty item from Kmart!

Just imagine hosting a small party with family and friends on a relaxing Sunday afternoon, sharing good conversation and some laughs, and maybe even knocking back a couple of cold ones while the grandkids race around getting up to who-knows-what kind of mischief.

As a party host, of course, you can't entertain your guests without serving food.

But spending all of your time running around cooking and serving up food can be such a drag (not to mention, a good way to miss out on all the fun)!

If you want more time to spend and enjoy with your guests, why not try arranging a grazing table?

Grazing tables, or nibble platters as most Aussies call them, are all the rave these days, especially on photo-sharing social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

One quick glance at the #grazingtables hashtag and you'll see hundreds of colourful, mouthwatering spreads that serve as the perfect meal entertainment for any occasion.

With a grazing table, food is already prepared in advance and all that's left to do is to put them together, along with the decorations and serving utensils.

Not only will this make cleaning up so much simpler and easier, but this can also be a relaxed way for you and your guests to mingle without actually cooking and preparing a formal meal.

How good, right?

Here, one Aussie mum shares a few tips on how to make sure your platter looks as fabulous as it tastes.

Tina, a mum from Western Australia, said that she has always loved "making things look pretty", especially when it comes to her home and her family, and that includes nibble platters.

Here are her tips for fellow party hosts on how to level up their grazing game:
  • Keep it simple and place things neatly with a pop of colour.
  • Fill the gaps with things like nuts, fruit, chocolate, and even lollies to give it a fuller look.
  • Line them with cool paper to give them that little bit extra.
And since she knows and relates all too well to the common problem of transporting nibble platters, she also shared a nifty item for Kmart that can greatly help when taking plates of food to places.

"I love making cheese platters when going to friends' places but it’s so hard to make them up and transport on boards," said Tina, so she recommended these bamboo drawer boxes from Kmart.

"I thought these would make amazing little platter boxes, perfect for on the move," she said. "I call it transportable cheese platters."

These bamboo boxes from Kmart are designed to reduce clutter in your storage places, but Tina suggested that you can also use them as landscapes for your nibble platters.

And we have to agree! Looking at the photo, not only does the food look delicious, but the boxes look extremely practical as well.

Several other fellow grazers on Facebook agreed with Tina as well, commenting that they tried the hack and found that it's so much better than using traditional flat wooden surfaces.

"LOVE THIS! It would make a great gift too!" wrote one user.

The bamboo boxes range from $4 to $8 at Kmart, depending on size.

So if you're looking to organise a picnic soon, we suggest grabbing a few of these boxes, members!

I have never heard of a grazing table called a “nibble platter”. Most Australians? Could be a regional term.

These do look fantastic, but I wonder if they are food grade boxes. Probably not, but easily fixed by lining them with paper napkins - might add to the decor too.
