One mum has issued a public warning after making a shocking discovery in a popular Australian dessert that she had recently purchased from Coles.

Most concerningly, the mum claims to have made the arguably gruesome find just moments before she was about to serve it to her one-year-old daughter.

The mother shared photos, showing what appears to be a discoloured and soggy band-aid that had been immersed in the YoGo brand chocolate yoghurt.

In her post online, the mother urged other parents to be cautious and to thoroughly stir through food before serving it.

‘Firstly, I’m only sharing this for awareness as this is a “kids yoghurt”. I am not after compensation,’ she wrote.

'PLEASE STIR THROUGH FOOD BEFORE EATING. Infested, disgusting, non-hospitality-friendly band-aid found in this yoghurt.’

'I'm so relieved that my toddler didn't eat this. Please, please be careful, guys.'

She also shared that she bought the yoghurt at Coles’ Westmead branch and took a shot at the cleanliness of the manufacturer: ‘Obviously, YoGo yoghurt staff don’t have proper hygiene standards at their workplace.’

A friend of the mum expressed her thoughts over the incident.

'My friend is outraged and distraught over the incident. Thankfully her daughter did not consume the poisoned product,' she said. 'It's revolting!'

The friend also questioned why YoGo was still available in stores, suggesting that there should be a product recall due to the clear breach of health and safety.

'Shouldn't there be a recall out on this product?' she asked.

'I mean, it's a children's product. And there is a clear breach of health and safety here!'

The Bega Group, the company that produces YoGo, has responded to the incident, stating that they are urgently investigating the mother's claims.

'As soon as we were made aware of this, we commenced working with our broader team to conduct a thorough investigation which is still underway,' a spokesperson said.

'The safety of our consumers and quality of our product is, as always, the top priority.'

Safety control was very stringent when I worked in the food industry. Product was being rejected one day as a person had nail polish on which was detected through rubber gloves.
Other controls detect various foreign bodies.

Firstly with this report, I would say it is not a Coles problem. They do not own the company and only sell the products. It could be any of the supermarkets that sell these products. It should be the name of the company making the product. It always is made to sound like the store that sold the goods.
I do not work for Coles so have no interest or concern with Coles but the manufacturer is where I would be concerned.

Unfortunately incidents like this can & do happen. Australian Law even provides for it. Regrettable, and I am glad it did not happen to me. Take the container back & get Coles to follow it up.

I know someone who found a blue bandaid in a freshly bought meat pie. I purchased a loaf of unsliced bread and when cutting, found a large washing sponge cooked into the bread.
I think it's what you don't see that you need to worry about. Those are some of the things that Food Safety Auditors look for, including mold, mildew and uncleaned surface. I can assure you that you see far worse each and every day.

I found myself wondering which one of these four I'd rather come across in my food: The roach and the rat are easily off, leaving the fly and the fingernail. I can't decide!

In all seriousness, a band-aid really is a shocking find. I'm just happy it was spotted in time.
