Takes me back about 80 years.

Takes me back about 80 years.
Sounds like my childhood.
Today's children don't have any table manners, too busy eating in front of the TV.
Oh, hang on, that's what I do. Whoops 🤭

OMG, I've become my mother...so to speak! 🙄

@mOiOz you forgot one thing!

"Get your elbows off the table!"

Where you would like me to put them then? Into your nose?

Oh, how the years go by, but the memory retains it all. Table manners these days seem to be things of the past. I have been thinking of opening a "manners" school in the town where I live, for young people who wish to get on in the world.

One more , eat it now or you will get it for breakfast .

Also no speaking at the table.

Such antiquated pompous rubbish has been brought up here.

All because of some self appointed "aristocrats" from many centuries ago!

Remember it well. And the one about starving children in Africa would love what I wouldn't eat.

I often wondered how she could possibly know what they would like, or why my dinner would be to their liking. I guess the message was; if you're hungry you would eat anything put before you.

I still would go without than eat some things put before me, and, yes I have often gone hungry.

at least no one has a bloody cap on their head. so many rude people who do.

I remember my sister saying this to her son and she actually did put it in front of him for breakfast.

Even please and thankyou are not always used when they should be.

I have a friend who wears a cap to save others embarrassment. His bald head is covered by scabs from skin cancers, and skin grafts. I know which I prefer when eating with him in a restaurant or at home. I don't like the practice of "permanent" cap wearing if unnecessary, but how can one tell he's not like my mate - doing it for a good reason!

The starving children in the missions would be grateful for that meal

Or the other threat was eat it tonight or you keep getting it every meal until you’ve eaten it. (I persevered in that case and ment without meals for 6 days until the meal had gone mouldy)
