Message from the Minister for Seniors - Support Information Following the Events at Bondi Junction

Good afternoon!

The Hon. Jodie Harrison MP, Minister for Seniors, emailed out a variety of resources in light of the Bondi Junction incident and its impact on the community.

Thank you to member @Joy Straw for bringing this email to my attention.

Below are the resources:

Resources

Immediately following the attack, the NSW Government opened its support programs including:
  • The NSW Government’s Victim Support Scheme with a dedicated phone line for people directly affected by this incident at 1800 019 123
  • NSW Police have assigned a Family Liaison Officer to support each impacted family
  • The NSW Mental Health Line has been boosted with extra specialist staff and is available 24/7 at 1800 011 511.
In addition, general supports for the community are also available:

Vigil

On Sunday, April 21st, the Premier led a candlelight vigil to honour the victims of the Bondi Junction tragedy.

The vigil was held at Dolphin Court, Bondi Beach, South of the Bondi Pavilion at 5:30pm.

It was also live-streamed online at nsw.gov.au/emergency/bondi-junction-support-information for those unable to attend in person.

Staying up to date with information from reliable sources

The Police and NSW Government are the main source of information on recent events and will provide accurate information to the public based on Police investigations.

It's great that all these resources are there.
At this time it us very hard for alot of people especially those people who witnessed this event unfold. And those who remained locked in shops for protection not knowing what was happening, then those people will definitely need these.
I remember that feeling being locked down in the city when the Lindt Cafe was under siege.

It was a beautiful and fitting candle light Vigil at Bondi Last night. The best thing was it was announced the 9 month old baby girl went home . 🙏🥰

Yes Great but also sad that her Dear Mother of mature years & first time mother was not with her. That dear child will always be Loved by her Dad & Near relatives. As a grandfather , it curdles my heart that such events happen to Innocent People.
