Hi,
I'm new! Obviously! Although some have read my messages. I have a seniors card. Our family (mother and I) followed father to Australia, when he was sent out to assist with the satellite launching project in Woomera. Father was literally a "rocket scientist". He was an inventor, a mathematician, a teacher and a philosopher. He loved to read. He invented the Grey Code before it was named that. He came top in English Grammar in an English grammar school, won a scholarship, but without family support went out to work, he excelled in mathematics, despite never going to college. He became an electrical engineer, one of the most difficult engineering fields to get into, without a university degree. I recall his walking around the house reciting BB ROY BGVGW, and when I studied physics, found out that I knew the order of electrical resistance codes! I made a gyroscope out of cardboard when I was in primary school. (Some students didn't know what a gyroscope was in Uni Physics!) I knew the basic structure of a rocket before I was a teenager. Why do I mention father? - because he was a big influence in my life. My attitudes, my humour, so much of my life was influenced by him. I admired him and miss him terribly. What I am today is largely due to my father's influence. My mother was a nurse, a gardener, a lover of flowers. So I studied, maths, physics, zoology and botany. Then music, botanical illustration and multimedia. I trained as a competitive swimmer with Harry Gallagher. I am a composite of my parents. These are the influences on my life and my attitudes.
