This ingenious kitchen idea comes from an Australian mum who found a way to use the Kmart Pie Maker to simplify the time-consuming process of making pies.

Instead of struggling with the rolling pin and cutting out individual circles of pastry, she suggests laying an entire sheet of pastry over the bottom of the Kmart Pie Maker appliance, filling the holes with your favourite filling, and then adding another layer on top.

It's that simple and easy! The best part? After cooking, all you have to do is cut the four pies apart with a pair of kitchen scissors.

I think SDC should contact kmart and ask for them to sponsor you .
Everyday we see reviews on kmart products , yes most on here are seniors and don't want anymore gadgets but we have adukt kids and grandkids who we might buy for or tell them about these.

I make pies all the time as does my daughter who is still at home . I might purchase one of these as I'm thinking it maybe quicker to cook the pies rather than the oven which may save electricity.

I need new small metal pie dishes which are now $8 each so maybe this pie maker might be the way to go

I have one and it’s worth the money. Easy to manage. Love it.

Lovely for apple pies too. Freshly sliced apples for a bit of crunch, or canned apples for a quick dessert. Don't forget the cinnamon and sweetener.

Damn I have been avoiding the Kmart pie maker ever since it came out as I did not want to add yet another unused kitchen appliance to my kitchen cupboard but this idea has me intrigued , husband loves pies and I can't make pastry to save my life so this sounds like something I can do.
with pastry try using oil instead of butter . knead to crumbs and bake . my partner showed me and she makes the best shortcrust . use frozen puff for lid , to much trouble !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for me also to bring out my pie maker and make many types of pies, savoury & sweet.

Me too but I think I'm going to buy one. 🙂

I bought my pie maker from Spotlight, it makes 4 pies, but they are a better size, the KMart one is more like party pies.
It was quite a bit more expensive than the KMart one, but I feel worth the price.
The instructions that came with it suggest using shortcrust pastry for the base and puff pastry for the top as the puff doesn't cook well as the base.
This worked really well, have made mince pies, chicken, leek & mushroom, apple, apricot and mixed berry pies.
Haven't tried using my own pastry.
I had a look at it today , it looks like it makes small pies. Have you made meat pies ? Have you used your own pastry

I do this in the Sausage roll maker . But I think of the pastry wastage if you use the correct circle cutters, the pastry rounds do fit. I can get 6 to 7 pie lids from 1 sheet of puff pastry and 4 to 5 pie bases from 1 sheet of short Crust pastry. My pie maker is a 4 deep dish pie maker. They all seal nicely and my pie filling has lots of Gravy etc
