In the humdrum of everyday life, one can agree that there's nothing quite like the excitement of exploring a brand new supermarket and discovering the various goodies it has to offer.
And now, long-time locals and new residents in a historic Melbourne suburb get to do exactly that! A new Coles store has recently opened its doors, and it's already receiving positive reviews from the locals.
Dubbed a 'fabulous addition' to the area by many, Coles Local Toorak Village is more than just a supermarket.
It has been thoughtfully curated to offer the best of the city's favourite suppliers and is designed to serve as the perfect grab-and-go destination for residents looking for quick and satisfying meal options.
This means customers can enjoy a wide range of convenient meals such as pasta, and pizzas from Brunswick’s 400 Gradi, healthy salads and soups from Foxes Den, and scrumptious gourmet sandwiches from Aston Lucas Gourmet.
The store also proudly stocks Cremorne St Bakers and Laurent Bakery breads, ensuring that the freshest and most delicious products grace the shelves of this Coles establishment.
The supermarket also features a 12-foot (3.6 metres) cheese case that includes selections from That's Amore and various renowned cheeses from both Australia and around the world. Imagine the cheese platter possibilities!
Those looking for premium cuts of meat will be happy to know that Coles Local Toorak Village houses a specialty butcher. High-quality, delicious meats for all your roasting, barbequing, and cooking needs are readily available for shoppers.
A trip to the supermarket isn't complete without a little indulgence, and this Coles store doesn't disappoint in the dessert department.
Shoppers can enjoy a plethora of treats from the frozen dessert bar, including delicate macarons, mochi, mini gelato, and single-serve ice creams.
And while there have been a few dividing opinions concerning the unveiling of another major supermarket in the area, the majority of Toorak Village residents have embraced it with open arms.
One said: ‘I was there today, such a great asset to have. Something we have been crying out to have for years.’
‘Looking forward to shopping at Coles next week,’ someone else stated.
However, not everyone was happy with the news.
‘Why do you need two major supermarkets right near each other!!!! Couldn’t you have gotten a boutique IGA with fancier choices for the area!’ One shopper said.
Jake Parker, Coles Local Toorak Village store manager, who has worked for the supermarket giant for 15 years, said, ‘We couldn’t be more excited to join one of Melbourne’s most renowned shopping strips and to offer customers a shopping experience that really reflects the energy of the local community.’
He added: ‘Our Local format stores are developed with the community top-of-mind. Each element of the store has been curated to provide a unique experience, which really champions Melbourne’s most loved suppliers, with the convenience and products customers can expect to find in a regular Coles store.’
In line with Coles' commitment to sustainability and community, any unsold edible foods from this store will be donated to Second Bite, a national food rescue organisation in Australia.
The new store in Toorak Village is the eighth Coles Local to open in the state and the 19th to open nationally.
It is housed in a building at 507 Toorak Road that’s designed with grand arch windows. It was also reported that the style was inspired by an Apple flagship store on Regent Street in London. A local artist named Emma Leonard was commissioned to create artwork that shoppers get to see inside the Coles store.
Additionally, this Coles Local branch also sells reusable shopping bags that are exclusive to the store.
This comes after a new Coles store also opened at Highpoint in Melbourne late last year. According to reports, the store is a ‘state-of-the-art’ supermarket and comes with a frozen dessert bar complete with mochi and macarons, a ‘squeeze-your-own-orange-juice’ machine and a ‘scoop and weigh’ pet treat bar.
It was also reported that the new store saw a huge turnout of people waiting by the supermarket’s doors mainly because it announced that the first 100 customers would receive a free gift bag filled with fruit mince pies, and other treats. You can read more details about this story here.
