Hi everyone! We'd love to have a go at writing a limerick as a group :D You'll need to post the next line that will follow the last comment in the thread.

Here are the basic rules:

5 lines

Lines 1, 2 and 5 rhyme.
Lines 3 and 4 rhyme
Distinctive rhythm
Usually funny

Here is an example of a limerick:

There was an old man named Jake,
Who ate only spuds and beefsteak,
He drank, and he smoked,
And told dirty jokes,

And died young at a hundred and eight.

I'll get us started:

There was an old man in a tree...
Who sadly was stung by a bee

Remember the fox in the box
Who forgot to darn his socks;
Such a silly fellow was he
He's now got a hole in his knee,
Wearing socks right up to his hocks!

A young lady who dwelt in Fremantle
Her car she tried to dismantle;
She put it up on a block
And hopes it doesn’t rock,
Causing damage that wasn't accidental.

I'll get us started:

There was an old man in a tree...
Who needed to go pee

Does it hurt when a car hits your head?
You're all bandaged up and in bed;
Wondering what happened
And why bandages are patterned,
With stains that show you have bled.

New first line someone..
