Leftover wine going to waste? Try this refreshing hack instead!
Bottles of wine just aren't designed for the long term once opened. Sometimes you buy a nice bottle, and of course, you want to have a glass after a long day. Opening it, however, means you have started a countdown for its expiry.

Wine once opened just doesn’t keep the same, which means either you’re forced to drink it, or it gets thrown out. Wouldn't it be nice if there was another way to keep the wine longer? Maybe even a way to help you beat this summer heat. After all, a glass of white wine on a summer afternoon is incredibly refreshing.

So, if you’re anything like us who enjoy beating the summer heat with a casual drink and hate wasting leftovers, then we have the perfect hack for you!

Home and kitchenware brand Swan took to TikTok to share their hack for prolonging the “shelf life” of wine.

In the video, the brand ambassador recommends pouring wine into ice cube trays and freezing them over a couple of hours to create tiny frozen treats!

It’s that simple!

The hack not only allows you to enjoy the alcoholic beverage in a different way, but it also allows you to create alternative “wine broth cubes” which you can use when making sauces, gravies and hearty stews. Even more convenient than from the bottle eh?

It is so easy to keep wine fresh: First of all purchase a bottle of Yellowtail Bubbles. Secondly, consume it and enjoy! Last of all ensure you keep the resealable top - fits almost any wine bottle and keeps contents [even bubbly] fresh for days. Better than any purchased resealing cap. Never fails.

I use a cork with a plastic head from a port or whiskey bottle. Does ok as long as it isn't shaken, especially sparkling!

What a great idea! Once the wine cubes have thawed can you drink it or is the quality of the wine compromised?

Never have a glass of wine by yourself because it turns into 2, 3 then 4 and the bottle is empty. So only open wine when you have someone to drink with and then it's 2 glasses and the wine resealed with it's screw top will be fine for the following night to have another drink with your partner or friend.

I am amazed that people have any wine left over once the bottle is opened ;)!

Actually still wine is fine to leave overnight...not a problem at all...There is a sparkling wine which has a great top for recapping and it still has the bubbles next day....just remember it is Yellowtail "Bubbles"...you can use it (the top) on the tops of other sparkling wine as well so I have been told.

I imagine white wine would work the same. I have done this once or twice with Red wine and used it in cooking. Worked for me. Cooking actually 'cooks' the alcohol out and you are left with the flavour.

I don't drink anything with bubbles. Never have been able to handle the bubbles even as a child. I have to let the lemonade go flat to drink it so leftovers are okay by me.

Isn't there a "hack" where you can put an upside down spoon in a sparkling wine bottle and leave it in the fridge and the next day it will still be bubbly? I swear my sister in law does it all the time!

I keep all my wines in the fridge. Bubbles, or white wine is not good at room temperature but chilled. Red wine should be drunk at room temperature, but not in QLD 😁 where most of the time we have warm weather.

What I do with a bottle of soft drink is just to tighly screw it shut and turn upside down. Good as gold for days...still plenty of bubbles so could work for wine as well.
