Koala Toy

Did you have a little Koala toy when you were growing up? Many people back in the ‘60s did, and those well-loved friends hold so many memories! Maybe yours was a gift from a loved one, or perhaps it was hugged so tight that the fur wore thin. Some even had a music box inside—a surprise for those who didn't realise it until years later!

My dad (who didn't usually give gifts, that was mums job) gave my sister and me one each.
I still have mine even after 4 children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
A bit worn around the paws but still a treasured gift.

I was given a koala by my grandparents when we came to Australia at the end of 1965. It looks very like the one in the picture and has very soft grey fur. He has lost his little plastic hands and feet over the years but is otherwise in good condition. I wouldn't part with him.

I also had this one - remember the windup music box - cuddled this hard formed bear at night until most of its fur was gone (think it was either kangaroo or rabbit pelt).
