Karl Stefanovic mocks Meghan Markle's reaction to a fire in Archie's nursery – what did he say?

After Meghan Markle admitted that she was rattled by a fire in the nursery where her son Archie was being cared for, Karl Stefanovic used the opportunity to take a jab at the former actress.

The Today anchor has been known to roast the Duchess of Sussex in the past publicly. After listening to her recall the incident in her new Spotify podcast Archetypes, Stefanovic said he felt absolutely no sympathy for the 41-year-old royal.

In the podcast’s first episode, which came out on Tuesday, Meghan told her friend and tennis star, Serena Williams about how horrified she was when she found out that Archie's nursery had caught fire in September 2019 while the Sussexes were touring South Africa.

Thankfully, baby Archie was not in the room at the time; however, Meghan revealed that she was left so shaken by the situation that she struggled to attend the royal engagements that were scheduled for that day.

The only response that Stefanovic had was to snicker at Meghan's emotion and make fun of her for 'overreacting'.

'So, just to get this right, the baby's, what, not even there?' he laughed on the Wednesday episode of the breakfast show.

'No... the nanny had taken the baby from the room before the fire ignited,' his co-host Allison Langdon replied.

'But... so then, the baby's not there when the fire catches, right? And because the baby wasn't there, she was going to have difficulties going to a function? Oh, my God,' Stefanovic went on to say, and he even rolled his eyes.

Langdon made an effort to empathise with the Duchess by telling Stefanovic that she was a young mum living in a different country, which may have been a nerve-wracking experience for her (or anyone, really).

Her co-host laughed uncontrollably and then told Langdon to quit acting so fake while talking about the royal mother.

'That is not you talking. You are a woman who says, "grow a set". That's what you would say normally,' he said.

Before deciding to step down as senior working royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex embarked on their final official tour, which took place in South Africa.

In her explanation, Meghan described how she was then required to attend a royal event while being separated from her months-old child at that time.

After hearing of the fire incident from Archie's nanny, she said everyone was 'in tears and shaken', yet they couldn't do anything but attend another official engagement.

In the 57-minute episode of the podcast show, which is now available on Spotify, Meghan and Serena also discussed the double standard women face when they are labelled as 'ambitious'.

On the other hand, Stefanovic's most recent appearance on the morning show saw the 48-year-old TV presenter taking off his clothes and baring his chest on national television.

Does anyone really care what Karl Stefanovic thinks or says ???:sleep:

He's just some irrelevant W⚓ on one of those morning TV shows that I've never wasted my time watching anyway. Anyone who actually takes any notice of him really needs to get a life.

This was on the news yesterday and Kochie said something similar .

Megan Markle was making out Archie was in a room when the heater went on fire.
She said this clearly in her podcast

When infact he wasn't in the room and it was a little bit of smoke coming out not actually fire.

I think someone is exactly like her sister and father,
a drama queen.

He should pull his head in. As a parent, when anything goes wrong, the "what-ifs" strike. What if the baby had been in the room? What if it had turned into a full-on blaze?
Seriously, if she had just brushed it off as of no concern, she would have been criticised for being uncaring! The media will turn anything into a circus.

Karl is misogynistic and thinks only of himself, pompous jerk. I used to like him but now he has no humility, get him off TV, I won't watch the show even though I like Allison L.

I don’t watch Karl cuz I can’t stand the misogynistic idiot! However he’s right! Megan is called Princess Pinnocio for a reason! She’s always telling lies! As she did in this podcast! There was no fire! There was a little smoke however Archie wasn’t in room & the heater was turned off immediately. Many have contradicted her statement about the fire including Laura “the nanny” how can she ever be believed? She has always been a “D” grade actress now she’s a Dramatic Lying “D” grade actress! I just hope no one turns up to there appointments coming up in UK with the Netflix camera team shooting them!

He (Carl S.) may be accepted by viewers as 'good looking' but the fact that he once could not spell the word 'blouse' if I am not wrong whilst on TV! This was some years ago and as a news presenter it is laughable!!! Hopefully if there was a way to retrieve the news clip!

Sorry (if I realistically NEED to be!), but I’ve never really related to Karl, in both his demeanor and ‘voice’. On the other hand, I love Ally - she’s a doll, hehe. Note to Channel 9: please replace Karl! Find another Ray Martin, or someone! Almost anyone would be more tolerable and appealing!

I think Karl may have said exactly what many of us are unable to say on a public venue.

Archie was not there at the time & she is carrying on about what could have happened if. More attention seeking l believe. Are there smoke alarms in the room & if not, why not? Something Meghan & Harry should have checked if they weren't so concerned about themselves, their money & how badly they both believe they have been treated following their self extraction from Royal life.

We are always being told not to worry about what may have been, life is too short.
