Is she okay? Royal Family member forced to cancel royal duties

Members of the Royal Family are often seen as figures of unwavering strength and duty.

However, they are not immune to the health challenges many people also face.

Another member has had her fair share of health woes, which have recently come to light.

Queen Consort Camilla had to pull out of important royal engagements due to a chest infection.

Her recent cancellation at the annual opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey has raised concerns about her well-being.

This event should be particularly close to her heart, as she is the daughter of a decorated hero, Major Bruce Shand.

On behalf of the Queen Consort, The Duchess of Gloucester stepped in for the activities.

Despite the setback, Queen Consort Camilla hoped that she would be able to attend the weekend's events, including a ceremony at the Cenotaph on Sunday.

However, she has also had to cancel her appearance at a reception at Buckingham Palace, which is set to honour the nation's Olympic and Paralympic stars.

Her absence highlighted the severity of her condition, as she was committed to royal engagements.

Queen Consort Camilla's current condition could be seasonal, as she and King Charles III recently concluded an 11-day trip, which included a visit to The Land Down Under.

'With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to recover in time to attend this weekend's Remembrance events as normal,' a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said.

'Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.'

Queen Consort Camilla's history of health issues included a variety of ailments.

A few months ago, she had a bandaged ankle at the Guernsey Parliament.

The previous year, she had been dealing with a broken toe.

She also contracted COVID-19 twice—the first time in 2021 and again in February 2022.

One of Queen Consort Camilla's most significant medical procedures was a hysterectomy in 2010, which required a hospital stay and six weeks of recovery.

Although there were speculations about the surgery—especially as she was a former smoker—aides confirmed that it was not cancer-related.

In the same year, she continued to fulfil her royal duties despite a leg injury.

However, a painful, trapped nerve later forced her to cancel additional engagements.

In the midst of her health struggles, her commitment to her duty remains steadfast.

An upcoming ITV documentary, Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors, is set to go on-air on Monday, 11 November.

The documentary highlighted her dedication to ending domestic violence.

In the documentary, she described domestic abuse as a 'heinous crime' and has vowed to raise awareness and fight against it until she is 'able to no more'.

We wish Queen Consort Camilla a full recovery.

I don't have to know her to make the statement that the British monarchy is corrupt.

They are not accountable to anybody and are not elected but appointed by undemocratic hereditary principles which are held together with the false notion of elitism and royal prerogative.

The royal family basically undermines the purpose of the British parliament. May as well dissolve the parliament and revert to serfdom!

have you run out of breath yet? the monarchy has been here for hundreds of years and I do not see any harm done by them over the latter years. I am gathering that you are the perfect person with the perfect family and your ideas are the perfect answer to all and sundry. Do we now bow to you. NOT ON YOUR NELLIE. accountability is something that is not only for royalty, as also is corruption. With the British government being as they are right now I would say a kindergarten could do a better job.

The SDC has a lot of members to consider on this site....the British Monarchy is a subject that quite a few may wish to read about and may not be up to date with local events through other mediums....might I suggest that perhaps the members that regularly comment here consider those other members and their interests. Notwithstanding we all have the opportunity to comment but I would suggest that there is also many who wish to enjoy the articles published by SDC but do not wish to comment at all.
