Is dishwashing liquid soap really worth the money? Bargain hunters share their thoughts

Having a clean kitchen is a great feeling, but it can be a lot of work. After all, there are dishes to be washed, counters to be wiped down, and floors to be swept. And don’t forget about cleaning stoves, ovens, and burners – things can get pretty grim around there!

If you’re standing at the sink, scrubbing away at dirty dishes, you want to know that your dishwashing liquid is up to the task.

When it comes to dishwashing liquids, there are hundreds of options on supermarket shelves and online – so where do you start?

Fortunately for us, a group of bargain hunters have come to the rescue, revealing their top picks when it comes to choosing which dishwashing liquid soap is best.

Starting a discussion on the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group, one savvy shopper asked what dishwashing liquid is popular among other members.

Several people shared their preferences, but the original poster claimed that, in their opinion, Morning Fresh is a standout, calling it his all-time favourite dishwashing liquid soap.

'Morning Fresh seems to work the best and last ages but it dries out my skin,' he wrote.

'I usually buy them when they are 50 per cent off at Woolies or Coles.'

With many commenting on how effective and long-lasting this liquid soap is, you’re sure to get value for your money.

However, a few people also noted that it could be a bit drying on the skin, so be cautious if you have sensitive skin.

Others suggested Costco's Dawn Dishwashing Liquid, which some noted could last up to 8 months per bottle.

One user wrote: 'I buy Dawn dishwashing liquid from Costco. Absolutely it's the best and lasts me about 8 months, I use it for everything now washing floors and pre-soak stains on my clothes it's fantastic.'

On the other hand, Earth Choice and ALDI's Tandil also made it to the list, with users saying that these brands are ‘just as good’ as the more expensive brands.

One savvy shopper shared: 'I buy Earth Choice. It's a bit cheaper at the reject shop, and sometimes I can get them half price at Chemist Warehouse. Normally, $2 to $2.30 for a 1-litre bottle.'

'We use Tandil from Aldi. It doesn't dry my hands as quickly and doesn't make dermatitis/eczema break out in my household,' another claimed.

Dishwashing & laundry liquid comes down to personal preference.
I buy Ecostore dishwashing liquid at Woolworths or Officeworks as it's for sensitive skin. Also, they have a lemon one which is nice too.
It's $4.50 for 500ml
Morning Fresh is $5.50 for 400ml

I have used Morning Fresh for more years than I care to remember and only ever buy the small bottles (when on special) as the liquid seems to be a lot more concentrated than that in the larger size bottles. I have never had a problem with it drying out my hands as I also cannot remember a time when I didn't wear rubber gloves to do the washing up or any other cleaning job that needs doing.

We have friend that drives his delivery truck that picks up 500 litre tanks full of chemicals and delivers to 2 factories that add perfumes and colors to this mix and bottle, and what happens you guess it same chemicals with different colors dishwash , shampoo, handwash, clothing wash, even car wash all out of same 500 litre tank's we are getting 😀 taken to the cleaners. To coin a phrase.

I can imagine!

I used morning fresh for so many years I can't remember but recently I found it's not as concentrated which means more per wash-up,,I used to buy 2 bottles each time it was on special at Woolworths but have now changed to Palmolive

I dilute my Earth Choice dishwashing liquid to obtain three bottles for one. A squirt is all I use, and because it's watered down it comes out quickly. Very little is needed, as I wipe oil from pans before washing.
I use Earth Choice wool wash, which contains eucalyptus oil, for laundry as I'm allergic to perfumes.
Every cell in our bodies, including skin cells, has a membrane made of fat. Detergents dissolve fats and
that explains why detergents cause skin problems.
Less is better.

I have found palmolive good for all things including the tiles in the shower and litter trays. I think everyones skin is different and you have to find something that suits you. A little goes a long way.

Those silly litter trays lol
I just hose them out and dry them in the sun.

I have used morning fresh for over 40 years, inherited this habit from my mum, so I’m glad to hear it rates well. I have sensitive skin but find the lemon is fine for my hands whereas the sensitive one they used to have irritated me. Woolworths have it half price so often, I can’t remember when I last paid full price. We also use morning fresh for cleaning windows and our vinyl plank flooring, best floor cleaner for this type of floor we have found

When I developed skin allergies the only things I didn’t have to change were Mum deodorant, Final Net hairspray and Morning Fresh. Everything else - moisturiser, shampoo, conditioner, perfume, make up, bug spray, sun screen - I either had to find an alternative or stop using completely. I have battled on with hand sanitiser, some are better than others, but I expect that because your hands are exposed to so much every day they are tougher than other parts of your skin.
